Dark hues flew open as his head snapped up. He knew he wasn't alone in this place, but he also wasn't expecting someone that quickly. Okay, so maybe he was, but that was besides the point. He shifted on the couch a bit to sit more upright as he took in the new form that entered the lounge. Though the first thing he caught aside from the blouse was the wand. Right, he wasn't about to question that. He had no need to. But he also sought comfort in this, that meant there were people that probably had powers like him. The ease of fitting in just became less complicated

Ages of all types. Great. Well that eased his mind in knowing he wouldn't become the town's babysitter. If that were the case he'd be teaching the younger ones how to boost cars. Not that one should be proud of that feature, but unless you're like him, who had started boosting cars at the age of ten, well then it just add cool points to your reputation.
Again he followed into the direction of which she3 pointed. "Ah. There it is." Not like he was expecting it to be a different building, he just had a habit of stating the blatantly obvious. "Scary, huh? I like scary." He flashed a playful grin before he headed off in that direction; he didn't get to far before pausing. "I don't mind you coming along, it'd keep things interesting that's for sure." A low chuckle was given as he resumed towards the Town Hall, almost half wishing she'd tag along. Though it's not like he'd be heartbroken if she didn't.
Dani shook her head. "I'll wait," she said. She mostly didn't want Ice giving her any odd looks while Brennan checked in. So she pointed at the rock she'd be waiting at, and she moved to lean against said boulder.
The town hall actually looked as though it may have, at one point, been a residence of sorts. Three short steps lead to the door. Inside the foyer was a desk tucked into an alcove, and hallways branching in two directions. A stairway was set directly across from the door. A small sign bearing an arrow pointing up the stairs had the word 'office' in several languages - or one might assume, if one did not know all said languages.
"Alright.." Brennan headed straight for those stairs, taking all three in one stride. Simple task for him at least. "Well. At least they make it obvious." This of course went hand in hand with the with the stairwell opposite his current standing. Well, that and the sign were a dead give-a-way.
Fists clenched for a second before he strode off in that direction, figuring that the office..would be the place to check-in. Unless of course there was a more obvious sign that he just happened to miss.
With that the elemental took off up the stairs, darting up them in pairs. Why was he in such a rush? Hell if he knew. By the time he reached the top of the stairs, a small pit of that bad feeling had gathered in his stomach. Shaking it off, he continued in the direction of which he needed.
Ice was studying their 'prize' from Riverfell - though it was utterly useless without Riverfell having the counterpart. She glanced to the door as unfamiliar footfalls reached elegantly tapered ears - though a flick across Belle's mind told her as much as the person heading her way was likely to.
Smiling faintly, she put the orb away but did little else to clear the clutter from her desk. "In here," she said quietly - in case he hadn't noticed the open door and the office-like interior within said door.
He skidded to a near halt, which also induced him into falling on his ass. Thankfully his training with the others, had honed his balancing technique. Backtracking a few steps he meandered into the office like room.
Dark brown eyes quickly scanned the room, not like he was looking for anything specific, just getting accustomed with it all. He didn't stray too far from the doorway, no sense in seeming like this was an intrusion rather than, whatever exactly it was supposed to be. "Uhm..so about this Check-In thing.." He put his hands up a bit, palms facing upwards and level with mid-biceps. "..ta..da.." Why he was trying to be funny and lighten the mood when it was all fairly easy going to begin with, was past him. Guess it was that blasted Mulwray charm of his. Though of course he could be using this to his advantage for when he asked for a favor in turn of him helping their cause.
The Elven woman regarded him for a long moment, the faintest of smiles touching at her lips at his ... introduction. "That's very helpful, thank you," she murmured coolly.
She gestured for him to have a seat across from her if he was so inclined. She drew a list closer to herself, though she'd already checked him in, as it were - Belle was tired, cranky, and had a headache from the extreme tracking she'd had to do that morning, but she'd still supplied the basic information. "So, tell me about yourself, what you can do, your name, things like that, and I'll answer any questions you may have. My name is Icetenari, though I'm sure you were able to deduce that from the letter."
"For the most part at least..Glad to be of service by the way." He was in turn referring to his lack of introduction upon entering. He'd rectify that in a moment. Following her gesture, Brennan cautiously took a seat as that 'bad feeling' grew a bit more evident in the pit of his torso. Regardless he plopped his ass unceremoniously into the chair provided

Ice shook her head slightly. "You misunderstand," she said gently. "I have nothing to do with the selection of people being brought here. I am simply the figurehead in this cosmic game the Powers that Be have decided to play."
Because frankly, were it up to her, she'd have a few things to say regarding the current assortment of people they had. Some should go home, and some should be allowed to go home - or to their new homes.
"I couldn't find anyone in any other realm," she continued, and there was a vaguely apologetic tone to her voice. "However, people do tend to show up here in groups from the same world, though occasionally from different points in their personal ..." she frowned. "Well, timeline. Which isn't a promise, but ... don't give up hope."
She did consult with her notes to make sure Belle had given her the correct information - but she had. Maybe the poor kid could have a rest now.
That didn't sit overly well with him. But alas it wasn't her fault. He still had to keep up the faith that, Shal was out there somewhere. Though, the news didn't stop him from fingering the Comm ring on his finger. With a mild temple rub, he was going to be in the need for some serious relaxation, and here he was with out Whitman.
"I don't plan on giving up hope. I haven't yet. Not about to start now. Well. being that you have no say in the matter. I apparently am at your service. For whatever it is that needs to be done." He new pretty much what they were seeking, but it's also been made to be known in the history books that crusades often had underlying missions.
His hands would move from his temples to skate down his face with a soft exasperated sigh. Freeing his hands from his face, he was slow to rise from his seated stance but did it none-the-less. "Well. I guess you know how to reach me. Unless there's more you'd like to know?" He was going to turn back towards the door, but stopped when he asked that last bit.
Amusement flared briefly in grey eyes. Usually, they had more question than that, but maybe he'd prefer to learn first hand from the others, rather than hear the old lady at base camp lecture.
"Nothing more I'd like to know, no. Should you find you have more questions, either Laurel or I will be able to assist you, though there are a few others here who know nearly as much as I do, and they'd be happy to help as well."
A pause, and then she continued. "As far as what we need, it depends on the task at hand. When something arises that suits your skills, you will be offered a chance to participate. A lot of this game is simply ... sitting and waiting."
"Can't really question.. a good versus evil kind of thing." It wasn't really that hard to understand. Though possibly learning exactly what the other side planned to use against them would be essential. Though, he was sure he'd find out sooner or later. "I'm at your disposal

Concern briefly darkened Dani's eyes, and she wondered what had happened. She pushed away from the rock, stepping toward him. Resting a hand on his shoulder briefly, she tilted her head as she regarded him. "Did it not go well?" she inquired softly, her brow furrowing a bit.
He did look a bit like someone had kicked his puppy, and she frowned softly. She hadn't really meant it when she'd said Ice was scary - though she supposed the woman could certainly be intimidating.
But had something gone wrong? Curious, she waited for his response.
His head tipped in her direction, and he smiled faintly at the contact. "No. Nothing went wrong. Not in the sense of the regards of this so called struggle." There was no need to bring up the rest of his conversation. No need to bring Shal into the mix yet.
He needed to lighten up his mood again. Surely there was a way to go about doing so. "Feel like doing something?" He didn't exactly specify what that was, but he'd leave it up to her for input. Generally, Brennan was always game for something fun. Nothing could deny that.
Maybe finding a basketball would be added to his to-do list later on. Why not work on his skills so that when he found Jesse he could kick his ass at the sport. He flicked a casual grin to his current companion before speaking up again.
"There's got to be something fun do do around here, aside from..the given.."
"Oui, but what one person finds fun, another may find dull, non?" She tilted her head a bit. Well, she'd gone looking for company because she'd been bored, and here was a cure for that. "I imagine we can come up with something to do. There is a pool, and the lounge of course, the ocean, an orchard, the beach," she looked contemplative. "There are restaurants if you are 'ungry? Or shopping if you would like to get some things to ... ah ... personalize your room?"
She'd done a bit of shopping herself after she'd settled in. The blank rooms were kind of ... depressing without something to brighten them up. At least as far as she was concerned.
Oddly enough she was right. From the short time he spent in that room it was a little bland. Though he could live with that for the time being. Surprisingly enough he wasn't hungry so that ruled out two options: eating and shopping.
The thought of water, despite his mutant abilities struck him as an idea. He normally wasn't one for swimming but as long as as he didn't need to shoot a Tesla coil at someone, there was no fear to be had.
"Water, sounds fairly idealistic. Which is better, the pool or the beach?" This was of course if she were up for it. He could just as easily settle for a game of whatever. Then it occurred to him, he had nothing to swim in at the moment, though that never exactly stopped him before.
