The typical need to slip through the halls automatically left him, and was replaced by his eyes open and body ready to approach anyone he saw before him. Luke knew that most people would be going about their

So the afterlife had whitewashed hallways. Not the most particularly interesting thing he'd ever come across in someone's life-after-death (though he was still playing with the idea of what he was in, exactly).
He wasn't human, certainly. The little details took care of that suspicion pretty easily. Blowing out a grace didn't exactly lead to being reincarnated, either. Then... what? Dad had actually intervened? There was only one god who could plop back an archangel after his demise, and he hadn't been around for centuries. Even if Lucifer had the power to do so, he wouldn't have. Not when he'd clearly made his decision.
Surly? Him? No.
He stopped in front of a door labeled "bathroom", twirling the glasses he'd nicked from the room in his hands. Initium. 7th Son. Black horn. Tapping the lenses caused a small shift in the glass as well as a feeling like they were sucking raw energy from his fingers.
Great. Wonderful. Perfect. Suck all the power out of an archangel, why don't you. Best present from Dad since he'd let ( ... )

Slipping out of his room and into the hallway was easy enough, but now he wasn't exactly sure which way to go. He hadn't paid attention when it was evening and the nurses had practically dragged him back to his bed. His eyesight wasn't like it used to be either. Goku couldn't make out much beside the occasional gleam from the waxed floor, which only made the walls around him seem that much darker.
He couldn't hear anything either. Maybe a creak or a footstep, but nothing definite that Goku could hone in on. "Oh, well...." There wasn't much he could do about it, and just standing here was boring so he followed the hallway until he almost ran into a door that came out of nowhere. Thankfully, the doorknob was easier to find this time since it smelled like so many different people.

Edgar rounded the corner into the next hallway, momentarily thinking of their path. The hall was uncrowded- it was still early.
"The quickest way to get to the courtyard would be to cross the wall that connects them in the recreational field," he said. "Otherwise, we'll have to cross through the Sun Room and cafeteria. All open areas, and I've personally seen a monster floating above the Sun Room on the second floor. I wouldn't be surprised if any of those areas were guarded."
He weighed their options in his mind: attempt climbing the tall wall with their injuries, or risk an encounter for which they were ill-equipped? Perhaps neither room would be occupied... but there was always a chance. "Given our present state, either way will be risky."

Well, he was willing to try scaling a wall to avoid all that, assuming Edgar could make it as well. "Do you think you could make it over the wall? I'm pretty sure I can, but there's no point if the two of us can't manage." He wasn't all that worried about his arm. He could deal with pain, and if he tore out a stitch or two in the process, well. It wouldn't be the first time.

The hall was dark and quiet, except for two guys advertising their injured state. Shit, hang a sign around your necks that says "free brains" and go play chicken with the zombies. Landel had done them the courtesy of putting healing on fast-forward so he could get back to the juicy bits on his spycam. But playing lone warrior in a building teeming with bright-tailed volunteers was just stupid.
Sangamon Taylor jogged past them, solo, without a word.
