[from
here]Just like last night, Vino turned the bend to find that he was first in the main hallway again. He couldn't decide if he preferred it or not. Patience wasn't his favorite virtue, but he supposed he'd have to wait. The two meeting places he would have to be at were right next to each other, right? So that was fine. If he had to wait a

Halfway down the main corridor, and he'd reached his first goal of the night. There seemed to be faint sounds, following him down the corridor, but there was no movement when he flashed his light down the hall behind him, though. He took a spot just to the side of the doors to the sun room, happy to have his back up to the wall. Easier to see things sneaking up on him while he waited - and hopefully it wouldn't be too long. This place seemed fond of making him think about things he'd rather not be thinking about, and being alone only encouraged it. Something to do - that would be good.

Wandering aimlessly wasn't going to get him anywhere, Carter needed to find someone who knew what he was doing. He tried to catch the attention of the first fairly normal person he found find in the dim, pink shadows. At least he seemed normal.
"Hey, any idea what's going on tonight?" he murmured, setting his back at the wall. "Everything went funny after those alarms went off."

"I don't know," he replied, just loud enough to be heard in the hallway. "But there seem to be more... creatures out tonight than last night." The scurrying sounds from the shadows hadn't gotten any closer, from the sounds of it - but they hadn't gone away, either.

He rolled the end of his crowbar back and forth across his palm. "You think we ought to do something about it?"

Neku was somewhat wary after his trip down the hall, but no worse for the wear. He'd managed to make it without so much as a scratch, though he didn't have to use his headphones or his Psychs to tell that there were a lot more of the usual creepy crawlies than was normal. He flicked his light from the ground to one of the figures near the Sun Room door.
All told, Neku knew very little of the man he'd come to help, other than that he'd been the one to injure him. But at least he could make amends and then maybe the guy would quit stalking his bulletin notes. Or telling everyone about his powers. Or being so weirdly interested in them. Then again...
"Hey," Neku called, once he caught sight of the man standing in the darkness, seemingly unbothered by any of the things moving or strange sounds of crawling about.

He might have left if it weren't for a familiar voice just then. Vino quit pacing as he turned to see the kid who had agreed to meet him. Finally"Oh, there you are," he said, tone pleasant enough, but the impatience still showed. "Glad you could come this time! Almost thought I'd have to leave on my own again ( ... )

In a lot of ways, the guy reminded him of a kid. A big kid, maybe, but a kid all the same. He shook his head, "just stay still."
Taking in a slow breath, Neku held one hand out, palm open, the other resting on the ear of his headphones. A steady beat was enough to help him concentrate, and before long, the pin activated, releasing a soft green glow that fell over Vino like glittering rain. Even if it wasn't a fully mastered pin, it should still do the trick.

He hadn't doubted that the healing would work at all, but it was still an exciting moment when Vino felt the injuries disappear just like that. Amazing! He pulled the sleeve up from his right arm, and sure enough, the scars from the lightning burn were gone.
His left shoulder seemed to be healed as well. Vino couldn't be bothered to take the time to check under the bandages. The pain was gone though, so he figured it would work just fine.
In other words, the boy's ability had worked like a charm! Amazing!
"Whoa, that was awesome!" Vino commented, pleased. "Thanks for that."

Farther down the main hall and still no sign of any monsters. At least, still no sign of any monsters she could see. It still didn't lessen any the sinking feeling in Leanne stomach, nor did it help her feel any safer than she had when she'd left her room. She was no less determined though ( ... )

Surprisingly, this hallway was quiet compared to the past few Zero had been through. There were some prisoners in here but no monsters trying to attack them, nor any visible corpses around. He'd be lying if he said the sight wasn't a relieving one.
Good, now he could stop for a moment to catch his breath. So inconvenient, this body's need for air. As a Reploid, he could fight and run with little limit, but as a human...ahh, why was he complaining now? There was no time for that, he had a mission to accomplish. Where would be the best place to go to find out what was causing all of this? It was hard to think of an answer to that, though, as there was still so little that he knew of this place. Tonight was only making it worse, what with the pink glow everywhere and the sudden influx in monsters...
Speaking of monsters, was that a faint clicking noise he was hearing right now?
It was. Damn. He flipped around to face the direction the noise was coming from, gripping his now blood-stained pipe tightly. What was it this ( ... )

Leanne gasped, her train of thought completely derailed by the feeling of someone bumping into her. "Hey!" she cried out, stumbling some, catching herself on the nearest wall.
What the hell? What had just happened?
She turned around, heart beating frantically in her chest, only barely registering the words being said. No, her attention was taken by something else entirely, by the person who'd just interrupted her. At first, all she could see was hair, and a lot of it. As she got her breathing back under control, however, she finally made out the person attached to all that hair-- a shorter guy, practically out of nowhere ( ... )

After what they had just walked out of, this next hallway was surprisingly tame. No signs of blood, just a few patients hanging around -- Harvey had to admit he was glad that the blood and gore didn't extend all the way through the institute. Even for him, that would probably be a bit much after a while.
There wasn't much point in dwelling on that, though. Things were definitely out of the ordinary tonight, but they had to stay focused on their original goal. Harvey glanced to Jones as he led them down the hall, realizing that he was probably going to have to slow his steps so that the man could keep up. "So... what are we thinking? What happened back there?"
It wasn't something he could forget so easily, even when he was walking away from it. Seeing how it might be a clue for why a state of emergency had been called, he figured it was worth discussing. And at least the smell had already filtered away by now.

"Then again, we saw what Peter was capable of," he pointed out as he continued to move down the hall. Jones was doing a decent job of keeping up, but Harvey didn't know if he should slow down a little. It might just bother the man because he'd feel like he was being coddled, but...
Whatever. He'd just brought up Jones' death in the most insensitive way possible. Jones was going to have to deal with him being tactless and not necessarily babying him, and he was pretty sure the man would do both without complaining.
That's why Harvey liked him.

The central hallway proved peaceful, though it was the sort of calm one expected before a great storm. Tear noted the few in the vicinity, but they all appeared preoccupied. None seemed to be the people she was waiting for. The fact was worrisome, and she vaguely wondered if she should be searching for the youngest of the group.
That, however, would probably lead to more confusion than not, and in a place of conflict, confusion was the last element needed. Therefore, Tear stood by the doorway to the Sun Room, eyes alert for any familiarity or danger.

It didn't take long for Ritsuka to reach the main hallway before the Sun Room. It was a route he took every day since coming here after all and he could probably have walked in blind - may have preferred it in wake of what was going on tonight. The sounds of animals - no, monsters - being battled fell quiet behind him and Ritsuka frowned, ears swiveling back despite himself. It wasn't like he wanted to hear those things, but it was a human's nature to be curious - and his nature to think about what he'd just seen.
Thankfully, Tear's figure formed out of the darkness in front of him and took his attention away from the hallways behind him. His jog slowed to a quick walk and from that to a full stop as he came closer. "...Hey," he called out, his tail and ears flicking apprehensively. "I guess I'm the first to get here?"

Oh crap, had he taken the wrong way? This place looked too different at night! And now there was blood everywhere, that didn't help. Groaning, Luke could do nothing but lumber on until he was absolutely sure he wasn't going in the right direction, which meant hitting a dead end. So far, so good.
Thankfully, it wasn't difficult to see the double doors to his left or the two people waiting next to them. Tear looked much too formal in the stiff, starched uniform they were all given. It did wonders for her chest, though.
"Made it!" He said with a snicker as he crossed the hallway and stood in front of the woman and the cat boy, whose name was already forgotten. Oops.
With Tear finally in person, you know, physically in front of him, Luke felt awkward. He tried to exude a cool, suave demeanor, but it probably came off as forced exuberance. His palms were probably starting to sweat too! Damn it!

This was shaping up to be one of his worst nights in the institute, but he knew the only way that would happen was if he let it! The further he got from the other hall, the quicker his thoughts straightened themselves out. He considered himself really lucky that he hadn't been attacked by anything so far, knock on wood. There was no way of knowing whether any of the mess back there belonged to any "patients", especially when he didn't have a flashlight, but if there had been a way, he would have been putting himself in danger by hanging around! He had to try and remember that ( ... )
