Night 57: M-B Block Hallway

Some nights, he really did wish something would happen on his way to the men's room. Something big. Something spectacular. Something like an impromptu jazz band with instruments filched from the music room and patients that could actually play real music. Or perhaps he could find a phoenix down. Maybe someone could graffiti up the ( Read more... )

[From here]The hallway was dark and silent, completely devoid of other people. But these halls were supposedly dangerous, were they not? Perhaps it shouldn't have been surprising that they were so empty, that there were some staying within the safety of their rooms ( ... )

[From here.]While Harvey tried not to think about his past life much these days, seeing Bruce's face meant that it was more or less impossible not to. For that reason he ended up walking down the hall, wondering how a squeaky-clean attorney could end up scarred and burned, walking through a bogus mental institute with an axe in his hand and a gun at his hip ( ... )

((From here.))A quick glance around showed no signs of danger. That wasn't so unusual, though. The patient blocks were usually pretty quiet, and it was still early in the night. Then again, Claude hadn't forgotten Aguilar's offer. He wondered how many people here would willingly take weird drugs in order to get a weapon or a pin. Now that Leon was gone, there weren't many ways to secure a real sword. It made him worry for everyone's safety, but also glad that no one he knew would actually try something like that ( ... )

[From here.]Exiting out into the hall, Guy was glad to see that Claude had already made it. They had their timing more or less synced up by now, so neither of them ever had to wait long for the other to show. He lifted the hand holding his flashlight in a half-wave as he moved over, though he made sure to keep his sword held carefully at his side, seeing how he hadn't had the time to work on that sheath yet ( ... )

"Hi," he said with a smile. Even though they'd just talked to each other a couple shifts ago, Claude was always glad to see Guy. Running into friends at any given moment meant they were safe, and he couldn't afford to take that for granted these days. There was no telling when he'd get another letter from a friend he'd seen only a few days ago.

"Yeah, about that..." Claude rubbed the back of his head and glanced toward the door. "Actually, I have something I need to take care of in the women's block, so I asked Anise if we could meet around there." He felt bad about changing the routine, but he figured it would probably be better for Anise since he was up in that neck of the woods anyway.

"Sorry I didn't get around to posting a bulletin note about it," he added. Hopefully Guy was okay with that. Once he acknowledged the plan, then they could move out pretty fast.

Something he needed to take care of? While Guy was sure that Claude would explain on the way, this was the first that he'd heard of it. Not that he minded; for all he knew, this could have been last minute for Claude. "Sure, that's fine," he replied with a smile. "I guess we'd better hurry, then." Heading over there was going to cut into their time, even if it meant they could meet up with Anise once they got there.

Wanting to get going, Guy kept his questions to himself for the moment, deciding to wait until they were on the way before he started up a conversation. Instead he just led them out into the hall.

Even though his new room was in a different block than his old one, that hallway and this one looked the same-day or night. The only difference was the people in it.

Firo kept an eye out as he walked, wondering if he'd spot any familiar faces in this new hallway. So far, however, it seemed traffic through the area was light enough that he barely even saw any unfamiliar faces.

He exited the block, turning right to head for the main hall.

So, the east end of the institute was what Aguilar had said. While Zack didn't think that any of them had been given compasses here, it was pretty easy to use process of elimination in this case. He already knew where three directions led (the recreational field, the front door, and the patient blocks), so the only other option was to head down the main hall, past the door that led into the Sun Room and onward.

Hopefully the way to go would become clear after that.

He was used to exploring areas that were much more convoluted than this building, so Zack wasn't too worried. Right now he just need to get himself to that main hall, which was a piece of cake by now. Paying little attention to the other people in the hall, Zack moved on.
