Night 57: M-B Block Hallway

Some nights, he really did wish something would happen on his way to the men's room. Something big. Something spectacular. Something like an impromptu jazz band with instruments filched from the music room and patients that could actually play real music. Or perhaps he could find a phoenix down. Maybe someone could graffiti up the ( Read more... )

[from here]Getting out of his room made it easier for Kirk to really think about Aguilar's message, which was by far the longest and most informative screed he'd ever heard in two weeks of vague back-and-forth between the intercom and radio. His guess was right. Whatever the purpose of this facility, it didn't hinge on them accepting that they were really delusional. And in spite of Aguilar's threat to make them "become anything imaginable", it was still important for outsiders to believe the Institute's cover story. If their brainwashing was infallible, they wouldn't care. And if it wasn't, then their loved ones on the outside ( ... )

The hallway was empty as he quickly passed through, hardly pausing to check if there was anything potentially lurking in the darkness here. It was the rest of the institute he was more concerned about. And whatever it was that Peter was getting himself into this night.

Another night, another venture into the darkness with his gear in toll, Sechs prowled down the hall with his usual slouch, but his eyes were not as focused as they usually were. He had decided to let his axe hang off one of his belts for a change, keeping his flashlight in one hand and his machete in the other. His one leg pocket weighed slightly from the busted radio Sechs reluctantly decided to bring with him. If that stupid thing decided to squawk again, it had better give better news than the night before...

Whether the radio man made anymore announcements or not, Sechs still felt lost. Doubts over whether his searches for Alita were worthwhile or not haunted his thoughts, and his indecision over if he should take the military's offer in the medical wing disturbed his focus ( ... )

As embarrassing as it was to be seen without his real self shining through, Grell knew he had to hurry. The evenings had a tricky way of things where they ended before he ever got started and he wasn't about to let that happen again. Not tonight when the General was being so generous and so amazingly sexy with his anger and indignation. What a shame it would be to let that go to waste! But first?

A change of clothing and a mirror to check his makeup. A lady simply did not walk into danger without her lipstick in place.

Soooo much better. Grell always felt a bit more refreshed when he had his face properly made up and his hair done. It was a shame he had to hide the red nails under his gloves, but well, gloves were to be worn at all times when out and about and his just looked so good with this outfit. Admittedly, he did want a change of clothes every so often - like that pretty red coat he had in town or a different ribbon for his hair - but he was managing well enough with what he had for now. Will would be proud of him. Or he should be. He better be.

Oh! But what if he were to meet the General tonight like this? What a faux pas it would be to see such an esteemed character when wearing one's everyday trappings! These were fine if he was simply out killing people or things, but to meet a general? Hardly. Perhaps after finding whatever medicines were in the medical wing, he would head upstairs to see what he could ste-- borrow from the upper floor and the storage rooms that hid up there.

[ from here ]The hallway was neither wide nor narrow, with a dead end in one direction, and apparently connecting to a larger hallway, or perhaps room, in the other. It was difficult to tell in the darkness, perhaps moreso because his eyes had not yet fully adjusted to the near black again, after the harsh light of the magic ( ... )
