Night 57: M-B Block Hallway

[From here.]

Some nights, he really did wish something would happen on his way to the men's room. Something big. Something spectacular. Something like an impromptu jazz band with instruments filched from the music room and patients that could actually play real music. Or perhaps he could find a phoenix down. Maybe someone could graffiti up the ( Read more... )

The hallway was neither wide nor narrow, with a dead end in one direction, and apparently connecting to a larger hallway, or perhaps room, in the other. It was difficult to tell in the darkness, perhaps moreso because his eyes had not yet fully adjusted to the near black again, after the harsh light of the magic.

He had taken the device with him, after brief consideration. It did not seem as though it was connected to this drain on his powers, though he could discard or perhaps destroy it later if it began to seem as though it was. In the mean time, it might be some hint as to the identity of his captor, or the situation he found himself in - and, as in the case of the closet, may prove useful. This did not mean that Sesshoumaru was willing to keep it out and in use at all times. He was not so weak as to be forced to rely on toys such as this, and, more importantly, he only had one arm. The cylinder would be a detriment rather than useful, should he find it necessary to fight while still holding it.

He had turned it off and, for lack of anything better (his sleeves were pathetic) had tucked it into the odd, too tight shirt. It was pressing against his stomach now, the pull against the fabric heavy and uncomfortable, but it left his hand free, which was all that was imprtant at the moment. Certainly until he found more of what was going on.

The air still smelled sharp, a stinging bite that nipped at his senses. His eyes narrowed marginally as he moved on. Indeed, another hallway. There were another two doorways here, from what he could see; one very near to him, one several feet away. Simply for convenience's sake, he choose the doorway he was closest too. There would, perhaps, be further time to explore the other, if it proved necessary.

As with the door in the room he had woken to find himself in, this door had a strange, bulbous handle. Given that it seemed to be identical, Sesshoumaru made the - not unreasonable - assumption that they would function in the same, or a similar, fashion. His hand fell to it, and he felt it twist. Feeling the door open would have been a more satisfying sensation if he knew what was going on; as it was, he simply stepped out into the next passageway.
