Flat irons

Hey curlyhair.

So, as you all have probably experienced, once in a while you want to have straight hair. I wear my hair curly probably 99.9% of the time, and would love to have more of a variety, straightening it ever once in a while. I have a flat iron now called a "ga.ma leonardo ceramic flat iron" with 1" plates. Here's a picture of it.

For the Iron..i've heard stuff but i'm not sure about it. But last night i was watching the (hsn.com)home shopping network on tv.. and they have this straightener called the "MaxiGlide" to payments of $40. it took 2 strokes of a strand of hair and it was straight. why not check it out?

(i didn't notice the tummy)
And about your hair. i think it looks great how it is now. then again, i love long curly hair. mine isn't long enough to me but thats cuz' it takes forever to grow.

thats it, bye

Infomercials... They get you every time... Haha, thank you. Do you know of anybody or have you ever had any experience with that flat iron? I don't really want to get one unless I know that a bunch of people have used it and like it.

I have that straightener and I LOVE it. It keeps the moisture in my hair, it does a really good job straightening and it takes me about 45 minutes to do my whole head. It was a great improvement over what I had before. I bought it from folica.com too. I have pictures of my hair if you want to see.

Eeep I'm no good with hair cut advice sorry :/

Oooh, cool. Thanks. It's so crazy how much longer hair gets when it's straightened! Mine grows like 3 inches.

I have that same shower radio thingy. The batteries die in mine so quickly - do you have the same problem?

Ooh, thanks. The main reason that I don't want to order something off ebay though is because it doesn't usually have any returns. Do you have any pictures of your hair curly so I can see how much of a difference there is?

I just want to add that the only "straightening goo" that keeps my hair straight for more than an hour is the one Thermasilk makes. If I ever hear they're gonna discontinue it, I'll buy 400 bottles of it. It's that good.

Ha, thank you. What kind of a flat iron do you use?

I have 2 and can't remember which one I'm using now... I have a standard (probably Conair) cheapo one that does the trick as long as I turn it up AT LEAST half way. I try not to really fry it - I'd rather go over a chunk 3 times on medium heat than once on the "hot as the sun" setting.

Ahh. Conair ones never worked for me.

Hmmm... The woman that cuts my hair said that it's less damaging to go over it once on a really hot setting than a bunch of times on a lower setting. I don't remember exactly why though...

I have given up trying to straighten my hair. It just starts curling on its own again in an hour or so.

Aww, I'm sorry. That happens to me, but that quickly. I gave up for a while just because of how long it takes. What kind of a straightner did you use?

I've tried using a straightening/flat iron, I've tried using the blowdry method, and neither works. I refuse to use chemical relaxers, because my hair is so long and I don't want to damage it any further than it gets on its own.

When it was short it was much easier to keep the curls straight, or at least less curly by the blowdry method. I did this often, because I didn't want to have an afro when I was in high school. =D

I think that different brands and kinds of flat irons work better than others. But I definitely understand the pain and hassel of it all. It's not worth it most of the time.
