Flat irons

Hey curlyhair.

So, as you all have probably experienced, once in a while you want to have straight hair. I wear my hair curly probably 99.9% of the time, and would love to have more of a variety, straightening it ever once in a while. I have a flat iron now called a "ga.ma leonardo ceramic flat iron" with 1" plates. Here's a picture of it.

I just want to add that the only "straightening goo" that keeps my hair straight for more than an hour is the one Thermasilk makes. If I ever hear they're gonna discontinue it, I'll buy 400 bottles of it. It's that good.

Ha, thank you. What kind of a flat iron do you use?

I have 2 and can't remember which one I'm using now... I have a standard (probably Conair) cheapo one that does the trick as long as I turn it up AT LEAST half way. I try not to really fry it - I'd rather go over a chunk 3 times on medium heat than once on the "hot as the sun" setting.

Ahh. Conair ones never worked for me.

Hmmm... The woman that cuts my hair said that it's less damaging to go over it once on a really hot setting than a bunch of times on a lower setting. I don't remember exactly why though...

I could never decide if the logic made sense (for my method) but I've got 2B hair and it frizzes uncontrollably if my hair isn't bone dry when I straighten it or if the setting is too hot.

I think it'd be worth it to try one of those fancy ionic straighteners if you could get it on amazon or something like that at a discount. Or put it on your christmas wish list!

Thanks. I think you just have to find the right temperature for you hair. It all depends on the strength, curl and frizz of each person.

I already e-mailed the link to my mom saying hint hint nudge nudge for chanukah. :)

Ohhhh my insensitivity. I should really know that in a curly hair community other people besides myself would be jewish.

Happy chanukah!
