You've got me fascinated by this now - googling the trust names sometimes brings up things they sponsored (racers going to Le Mans, museum exhibits, renovations...)

There will be a long official document somewhere that might make what they meant clearer - but that 'statement of purpose' is remarkably badly written, especially as the charity was only established some 20 odd years ago! It could well be in order of the preference to be given - they were certainly worried in case there was money to use and someone who could use it, for something, somewhere, who might miss out :)

That must have been a fun read for you. Small communities can have such a rich history; history that people like me, living in huge cities, can never have.

And these days putting it online makes it easier for both those like me who want to know something, and for the civil servants who would, otherwise, have had to get the records out whenever anyone asked.
