Ethan was irritated. Bleeding, in pain, and irritated. What was taking Carlson so fucking long? With DHARMA's resources the freaks and geeks who foolishly thought they were winning could easily be overpowered. After spitting more blood from his mouth, Ethan resumed planning ways to push the cripple's buttons. The geezer was so easily played it almost wasn't enjoyable ( ... )

"My psychiatric and sociology skills," Ethan replied. Now that warrior Kenzaki was in the room the creep was playing nice.

"And how did DHARMA discover you?"

Ethan allowed himself a smug smile. "Graduating summa cum laude from Yale gets you noticed."

"When did you graduate from Yale?"

"1988."

"When did you begin working for DHARMA?"

"Right after graduating."

Void or no void, Scott was losing patience. He didn't care about Ethan's life story. He wanted to know about the island -- particularly how to get off of it --, who was behind DHARMA, what they'd done to the women, and what other fucked-up plans they had. Nevertheless, Scott kept his mouth shut. Aiden seemed to know what she was doing. He and Kenzaki were there to provided "encouragement." Unfortunately none was required at the moment, so Scott waited for Aiden to get to the good part.

[Ethan] Eroding the Confidence fikgirl October 2 2006, 23:07:26 UTC
(Maybe they've decided to bore me to death,) Ethan thought. The slow line of questioning gave him opportunity to study Burn -- again -- and figure her out. She was solely by the book; if you took the book away, she would lose her footing. Even in this place, she still held onto the book.

"It's interesting that I got a windfall job and all I had to do was study hard," Ethan remarked. "The reason I kept it is because I never get too close. My job is not my life. Whatever did happen to D.J. Pratt, detective?

"Tampering with evidence. That's a harsh accusation. Ruins a career, doesn't it? Then there was the plane crash and those two weeks . . . don't you ever wonder about those two weeks, Aiden? Don't you ever think that maybe there's someone out here who can answer all your questions?"

[Sakai] A Few Cells Over fikgirl October 3 2006, 02:12:11 UTC
Sato Sakai was worried. She tried not to show it, she was good at staying calm, but beneath it all she was worried. Sato knew what these freaks were like, she knew what they could do, uncontrolled and unsupervised. And Carlson in all of his supreme arrogance had underestimated them - but then again, he'd escaped when it was all coming down.

Sharing his bed hadn't won her any protection when it came to who mattered most. Carlson, always first and foremost was Carlson. He took care of himself always, just like in the bedroom. It made him a terrible lover, but a powerful man.

Sato paced the length of the small jail cell. Carlson would take his time coming for them. He played everything close and tight, never let all the cards show. And they all knew that when they began to get these new, improved subjects that there were risks that would be taken. Risks that might mean they would expose themselves ( ... )

Aiden swallowed impatiently. The reference to Pratt didn't bother her, the tempering with evidence did. Mac had agreed to keep it quiet. She'd resign, he wouldn't tell anyone else, end of story. How the hell did Ethan know?

"And that would be you I suppose?"

"Maybe."

"Whatever did happen in those two week I probably don't want to remember. Besides, what's one more charge? I've got you for kidnapping and aggravated assault. Not to mention attempted murder, conspiracy to commit...and I bet your medical license was revoked too." she huffed.

"Tell me why you took them, why you tortured them, tell me what DHARMA's objectives are."

(So much for the tampering evidence card,) Ethan thought sullenly, although he kept the emotion well-hidden. The fact that Burn was still trying to play things by the book -- (Revoke my medical license? Please.) -- cheered him somewhat. The ex-cop continued to bind herself with rules that didn't apply. That meant that Ethan, although restrained and jailed, had more power than she did ( ... )

Aiden turned around and grabbed Scott, flipping him around and slamming him up against the wall before could hit Ethan again.

"Out!" She commanded, frowning. "If you can't handle youself in here then get the hell out!" In her opnion he should never have been in here in the first place, he was too close.

She released Scott and turned back to Ethan but kept an eye on Scott out of the cornor of her eye.

"You like this don't you Ethan? Pushing buttons? Must've been good for you. The control. You wanna talk Psych 101? Alright, your a repressed anit-social who was ingnored by his mother and made to feel inferior by his father. You can't control your own life so you try to figure out what makes everyone else tick. How's that for a start?"

Aiden didn't give him a chance to answer, pressing on.

"Tell me where the supplies come from?"

Scott had been so focused on Ethan that he hadn't heard Aiden approach. The next thing he knew he was pressed face-first against the mold-stained concrete wall. "If you can't handle youself in here then get the hell out!" the cop declared. She released him before he had a chance to react.

(Fuck,) Scott thought miserably, keeping his back to Ethan, armored Kenzaki, and Aiden, who was finally laying into the prisoner. Bruised ego or no, she was right. He'd let Ethan get the upper hand.

Before he realized he'd made the decision Scott opened his link with Ami a tiny bit. Surprise, then her love, worry, and concern trickled through. Scott drank it in, amazed by how easily she calmed him.

Once he felt centered again Scott sent Ami a pulse of affection and reassurance, then closed their link again. The resulting emptiness made it easy for him to embrace his emotionless alien side. Cool and calm, Scott turned around and focused on the interrogation.

"What supplies?" Ethan said smartly. Aiden frowned.

"Don't 'what supplies' me. Medical equipment and canned food do not grow on trees. Where does it come from?"

"I don't know."

"What do you mean you don't know?"

"I mean that's not my department." Aiden sighed at Ethan, she was getting frustrated.

"Then what is your department?"

Ethan smirked inside. It was so easy to push the buttons of these people. Even the ones that weren't freaks, they all had their points where pushing became almost too easy ( ... )

"I wouldn't know." Aiden bit, "It's not my department." she smirked, turning around and heading towards the door.

"I think we're done here. He obviously not as smart as he looks, and he looks pretty stupid." Aiden with her back turned to Ethan tried to give Scott and Ken a look that said roam wasn't built in a day.

She turned her head back to Ethan. "First you said you were a psycharist, now it's a psychologist, if you're gonna lie to me in the future Ethan at least get your story straight."

"...if you're gonna lie to me in the future Ethan at least get your story straight." Ethan pursed his lips but said nothing.

Since Aiden had signaled the end of the session, Scott released the void, shivering when anger and frustration rushed in to fill it. He nodded at the cop, who clearly knew what she was doing, then turned to the suit of armor that was somewho Kenzaki. "We're done for now," he said in broken Japanese. Scott supposed that Kenzaki's growl was armor-ese for "Hai ( ... )

Aiden strode down the hallway, her mind deciding wether coffee or chocolate was in order. She noticed Scott's changed expression out of the corner of her eye.

"What?" she shrugged. "It went good in there. Got a good idea of how he ticks. We just have to figure out a plan to play him and we're in. What's with the sour face?"

OOC: is Daniel still here, or has he gone to fry them fishies? It wasn't far from the cells to the observation room, so Jon heard every word. Sour face, huh? There were all kinds of possible reasons for that, and one look at Scott's body language - halfway between presenting himself for inspection and trying to hide behind the nearest desk - was enough to tell Jon which way the wind was blowing ( ... )

[Scott] Not the end of the world.. yet starborn_scribe October 5 2006, 17:35:11 UTC
The urge to run upon entering the control room was so strong that Scott retreated to his emotionless Algeiban side again. There he knew that running would solve nothing. Daniel and Jon had been nothing but respectful despite their ties to the military. Ironically, Mindfuck Island was probably the best place for his secret to come out. The consequences would be much more severe in the real world.

Scott suddenly realized that he hadn't contacted his parents in days. That and Jon's wry comment about his alien friends broke Scott's hold on the void. Uncertainty and nervousness rushed back. With his shields down Scott felt Jon's candor. (He's not kidding,) Scott thought, only mildly surprised.

He managed a small smile. In an equally low voice Scott replied, "Then you know that they're -- we're -- not all bad." He wanted to say more, but ingrained reticence made him hold back. Besides, it was strange referring to himself as one of "them." Scott didn't think of himself as an alien. He was just him.
