[Sakai] A Few Cells OverfikgirlOctober 3 2006, 02:12:11 UTC
Sato Sakai was worried. She tried not to show it, she was good at staying calm, but beneath it all she was worried. Sato knew what these freaks were like, she knew what they could do, uncontrolled and unsupervised. And Carlson in all of his supreme arrogance had underestimated them - but then again, he'd escaped when it was all coming down.
Sharing his bed hadn't won her any protection when it came to who mattered most. Carlson, always first and foremost was Carlson. He took care of himself always, just like in the bedroom. It made him a terrible lover, but a powerful man.
Sato paced the length of the small jail cell. Carlson would take his time coming for them. He played everything close and tight, never let all the cards show. And they all knew that when they began to get these new, improved subjects that there were risks that would be taken. Risks that might mean they would expose themselves.
Now it was simply a matter of survival. Survival of the fittest: make them believe that they were getting what they wanted, protect herself and feed the others to the wolves. Sato could play the game.
She would play the game. All she'd done was simple application of technique - a few drugs and a few tests. In the end, Subject C was stronger, hardier than she had been before Sato experimented on her.
Yes, Sato would walk out of this. She would walk through fire and come out unsigned.
And when she saw Carlson again, there would be a reckoning - except he wouldn't know it was coming.
