Ethan was irritated. Bleeding, in pain, and irritated. What was taking Carlson so fucking long? With DHARMA's resources the freaks and geeks who foolishly thought they were winning could easily be overpowered. After spitting more blood from his mouth, Ethan resumed planning ways to push the cripple's buttons. The geezer was so easily played it almost wasn't enjoyable.
Some time later snippets of conversation drifted down the hall. Ethan recognized two of them as part of the freak brigade: O'Neill's clone and Hayden. He was loathe to admit that either sparked a bit of fear. The general's war record showed that his clone would do what needed to be done, including cold-blooded murder. The half-breed's vindictive streak had truly taken Ethan by surprise. The alien who'd knocked up his mother was from a race of pacifists. Ethan had hypothesized that Hayden would be incapable of violence, or that inflicting harm would cause enough mental dissonance that he'd avoid it at all costs. The bruises and dried blood matting the back of his head said otherwise.
Ethan's purpose was clear. First, obviously, keep this rag-tag band of survivors from killing him. Second, get his hooks in as many of them as he could. If he could sway a few of the more powerful ones to his side, Carlson would be in for a surprise when he reclaimed the Staff.
Ethan looked up as footsteps approached. The skinny half-breed and a brunette he didn't intially recognize stopped on the other side of the energy barrier. (Burn. Ex-cop Burn,) Ethan recalled, as well as fodder from her past ripe for manipulation. For now he'd play it cool.
The force field disappeared long enough for the unlikely pair to step through. Burn studied him like he were a piece of interesting forensic evidence. Although Hayden said nothing, his barely-concealed anger was obvious.
"Ethan Rom," Burn said coolly. "Who's spoken with you so far?"
Ethan sniffed. "John Locke. And his fist." Burn simply nodded. Ethan caught her eye, then glanced at Hayden. "You do realize what you're working with, don't you?"
Burn frowned, puzzled. The freak scowled, but stayed silent.
"Haven't you wondered where Mr. Hayden's 'amazing powers' come from?" Ethan prodded. Burn's frown deepened. The momentary panic that flitted across Hayden's face was most satisfying. "Oh, that's right," Ethan drawled. "He's going by 'Anderson' these days. My bad." He gave the half-breed a sacchrine smile. Hayden glowered back. "In any case, he's -- it's -- half-alien. Surely that violates U.S. immigration policy. Right, Detective Burn?"
Re: [Aiden] You Wishdet_aiden_burnSeptember 30 2006, 03:52:15 UTC
"That depends..." Aiden smirked "on wether or not he has a green card." she purposefully ignored his attempted bait to steer the conversation away.
"Besides we're not in the U.S. I doubt we're even any place that's been mapped. So let's start with in easy question, how did you and your companions get here?"
[Scott] Lie detectionstarborn_scribeOctober 2 2006, 00:10:08 UTC
Although Scott was relieved that Aiden had dismissed Ethan's announcement with a joke, he was still livid with the prisoner. Since John's session with Ethan had been recorded, presumably this one was, too. Jon was most likely watching from the control room, so Scott's secret was out of the bag and likely to be shared with Daniel and therefore the U.S. Air Force. Paranoia returned with a vengeance.
Aiden continued, "So let's start with an easy question, how did you and your companions get here?"
Ethan met her eyes coolly. "By ship." He smirked at Scott for a moment, adding, "Boat, that is."
If Aiden noticed the barb she didn't let on. Scott, however, was grinding his teeth. He'd been in the room for all of two minutes with Ethan and the man had already gotten to him. Fortunately one of his "amazing powers" could render Ethan's needling ineffective. After closing his link with Ami, Scott mentally retreated to his emotionless Algeiban side. Tension flowed from his body, which Ethan noticed. The man's eyes narrowed slightly, curious and wary.
"What port did you leave from?"
"I don't know," Ethan replied. Although his body language indicated truthfulness, Scott didn't believe it. Ethan was too good at manipulating people. Now that his turburlent emotions were safely walled off, Scott lowered his shields and focused on Ethan. "We're only given the information we need to know. The island's location and that of nearby ports wasn't deemed necessary."
Aiden looked a question at Scott. "He's telling the truth," Scott reported, noticing the odd flatness to his voice. Judging from his momentary frown, Ethan had noticed, too.
[Kenzaki] Monster timeestiroseOctober 2 2006, 01:22:33 UTC
KENZAKI ENTERS
Kenzaki, having arrived a bit late due to some miscommunication, strode in to the bunker. He was in full Scarab Undead form, but thankfully, everybody here knew who he was. He observed the action in the room, and made a motion to Jon-kun to let him in. Once Jon-kun let down the force field, he strode forward, intending to let his form aid in the interrogation.
(OOC: I can't remember if Scott or Aiden knows about Kenzaki's other form, but hopefully Daniel or Jon warned them that the big bad monster is on their side so they won't be confused)
[Jon] Monster timesophiedbOctober 2 2006, 07:58:26 UTC
Half-alien, huh? Still beats clone. I wonder what the others' excuses are.. Holy shit!
It was one thing to have heard about this alternative form that Kenzaki could wear, quite another to see the thing: more menacing than a Jaffa in full kit, even if the guy was a pussycat underneath. At least that's what he seemed like.
Jon thumbed the intercom. "Hey Rom! Thought we'd treat you to someone else's 'amazing powers' since you're so keen on them, ok? Scott, Aiden, it's Ken. Friendly. To you."
He grinned at the Japanese monster, thumbs up. "Walk on through, buddy. I'll drop the shield when you're closer."
[Daniel] Monster MatineefikgirlOctober 2 2006, 23:00:06 UTC
Daniel was still recovering from Ethan's pronouncement of Scott's half-alien parentage and nearly missed the look on Jon's face as Kenzaki made his entrance. It wasn't often that he got to see Jon look completely shocked.
His mind turned back to Scott being half-alien. (That explains a lot,) Daniel mused and a million thoughts and questions followed on the heels of that one. He pushed them aside; those questions could wait until they were done with Ethan ... and the rest of the scientists.
[Scott] Surprise du jourstarborn_scribeOctober 2 2006, 13:47:12 UTC
Jon's voice sounded from the intercom speakers after Aiden's latest questions. "Hey Rom! Thought we'd treat you to someone else's 'amazing powers' since you're so keen on them, ok? Scott, Aiden, it's Ken. Friendly. To you."
Then the huge armored figure stomped into the room. Surprise rippled across Scott's emotionless void. Kenzaki -- thankfully it felt like Kenzaki -- looked like a cross between a Power Ranger and one of the orcs from the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Scott had heard about Kenzaki having an alternate form but... wow. "Konichiwa, Kenzaki-san," Scott said.
Ethan barked a nervous laugh. "You can't be serious," he muttered. Although his body language said indifference, Scott felt his fear and astonishment. He turned to Aiden to see her reaction.
Re: [Aiden] This was never in the bookdet_aiden_burnOctober 2 2006, 14:20:08 UTC
At first Aiden could only look shocked as she turned in her head and saw Kenzaki enter. Holy crap!
After the shock wore off she pouted. It was too early in the interrogation for intimadetion. Someone had an itchy trigger finger. She took a deep breath, she wasn't used to three people in a interrogation, she hoped they could all work together. She turned back to Ethan with pursed lips, looking unrattled to his eyes.
The fucking thing growled and hissed, the half-breed grinned, and the bitch demanded an answer as if they were in a downtown police department! Between his current injuries and the fact that all-knowing, all-seeing DHARMA didn't seem to know of the Japanese tin can's existence Ethan felt himself starting to panic. (No! I'm better than these freaks. Smarter. I will not break! Carlson will get here soon. Not even this slant-eyed weirdo could withstand a barrage of rocket-propelled grenades. If I can't study these weirdos I'll bury them!)
Ethan recentered his mind, but not before his bladder had emptied itself *again*. In a warped way it was a good thing. His humiliation made Hayden smirk, which made Ethan all the more determined to teach the bastard a lesson. Once he figured out how to negate the freak's paranormal abilities he'd have his way with the half-breed's lover. Ethan had seen more than enough stomach-turning romanticism between the two at the beach camp to know that fucking his woman would drive Hayden crazy -- possibly literally.
Ethan put on a polite smile. "I'm sorry, Detective Burn. Kenzaki-san distracted me. What was the question?"
The woman's expression remained cool and detached. "How did you get involved with DHARMA?"
"They recruited me." Ethan stuck with doling out tiny, nebulous bits of truth. That seemed to be the wisest course of action with Hayden's empathy and how he'd somehow put his thirst for revenge aside. Nice trick, that.

Of course, he moderated his tone, so his polite greeting came out as a set of growls and hisses as he looked at Etuan-san.
He hoped this wouldn't take long; the man was smelling fouler and fouler by the minute....

Anyway, I am on the mend. Should get some posts up late this evening/tonight after taking care of some RL stuff.

Um, yay? I don't like the fact that I have an inner Ethan. It's yucky.
But seriously, thanks. :) And I'm glad you're feeling better!
