Listing the Triggers in Criminal Minds

"Into the Woods" is on my TV right now, and I looked it up on the CM wiki, and decided to skip it the way I skipped "P911", and wish I had skipped "Hope". I know there are probably some people who skipped the pyro episodes even if they didn't the others, because the result of burns are their last straws, everyone have different ones, let's make a ( Read more... )

Adding to the burning to death: Mosley Lane

That one really fucked me up. That is one of my biggest fears, and the fact that it was happening to children, I refuse to watch that episode.

Soooo basically every episode of CM is a trigger? They aren't for me, I know there are people out there who suffer through those things and the monsters who cause the suffering. I tell myself that if they can survive real attacks I can survive a dramatization and know that there are real people like Hotch, Morgan, etc. who are there to help.

Which is why I separated them by category. Most of the stuff up there, aren't triggering for me. I've seen irl picture of burns, and usually without feeling like I was going to throw up, even though intellectually I understand it's horrible. That's ME, some other people, like the commenter above you, have a problem with the burn episodes. Different people have different fears, there are probably a lot of fans who have an episode or two they will never watch, or which they wish they haven't ( ... )

There are only two episodes I can't rewatch:

Legacy (Season 2) and Paradise (Season 4).

How about bullying? I found "Elephant's Memory", particularly Reid's account of his prank blind date (and remember that he could have been no older than twelve at the time!) painful and rage-inducing viewing; I wouldn't classify my own reaction quite at trigger level, but the episode could well have that effect on others.

Psychological abuse, as with the cockpecked wife in "Damaged".

Religiously motivated abuse, which Reid suffered at great length in "Revelations" and has been both suffered and committed by many UNSUBS.

Thanks, could you be more specific as to what was done to the wife as for it to be triggering though?

(Ugh--I seem to have gone and left more spoilers hanging out. A note that might be helpful: the white-out formula actually seems to be: lesser-than sign; font color; equals sign; "white"; greater-than sign; concealed content; lesser-than sign; forward-slash; font; greater-than sign. I've not been able to get it to work with the colon instead of the equals sign.)
