Discussion question time!

We have an issue that has been bothering several people for quite some time, and to be honest, it'd be a good idea to address them to the comm as a whole and stop ignoring it.

Kurumi made a post on May 13 asking for a roll call; she then mentioned it again in June. Several people responded, but there were a handful that didn't. We have ( Read more... )

Yeah, that hasn't been updated since the beginning of the community. Maybe it's time for an update.

Well, to reiterate what I said in the chat for those who weren't there, I personally am for SOMETHING being done about those people who NEVER come by here, NEVER post, NEVER rp, NEVER go into the chat, and whom we can't relatively easily contact. Because they are, honestly, dead weight, and there might be other people who would be far more active with those characters. I think that right now, THAT situation needs to be dealt with more than figuring out guidelines for activity, if they're needed/wanted ( ... )

I think we need SOMETHING to get people to be more active in the RP.

Inactivity is basically never BEING here, never contributing IC'ly, never making any effort to, you know, ROLEPLAY IN AN RP COMMUNITY. And a month seems FINE, to be honest. If you can't do SOMETHING with ONE of your characters at least once a month, are you actually PLAYING? I mean, seriously. Even a comment on an lj is fine for me, just as long as I know that there's someone playing, and not just watching. (We have plenty of lurkers who don't play, after all :P)

I agree completely. It doesn't take a lot of effort to at least show that you are still interested in the RP, even if you can't/don't do much with your character(s).

We won't kick you out of chat if you drop a character, if that's the only reason you're keeping one. :/

Yes. There are too many characters being unused and sat on and it's killing the community. If you're in an RP, why are you not RPing? It shouldn't be that difficult to make a post once a month, reply to someone's journal, pop into chat, whatever. At least make an effort to show us you are alive and playing ( ... )

I agree with you on the hiatus cap thing. If you know you're going to be too busy for RPing for a long time (by that, I mean four+ months with very, very little or no chance to even GET online, much less rp), you need to do the responsible thing and either find someone to temporarily take control of your character(s) until you can return, or just let someone else have them.

I think, maybe, we should have some rules/guidelines.

A. I think inactive would be anyone who isn't even online at any point. Some people who are members here are online, it's just that they don't come into the chat for one reason or another. If they're online, they're accessible, so it's possible to RP with them if you just ask. (And, I'll be the first to admit that I have a hard time with this. I don't always talk to others because I know they're sometimes busy.) You also have to take into account that there might be things that people are doing that are keeping them from RPing (i.e. school, RL drama, other things like that), however I think the person should notify others if that's the case ( ... )
