[The screen flickers to show the RAF captain lying unconscious on the ground, dressed in a torn and burned WWII pilot's jumpsuit. He stirs with a groan and a sharp wince of pain, completely unaware he's being recorded.]

Good sir, what has happened to you?

It...well...It was supposed to be a routine training exercise but it didn't exactly work out the way we'd hoped.
What is this? It's like a miniature theater, only there's an actual person on the other end.

You are a member of a guard, then, good sir? And you - were you attacked? Are you badly injured?
[At his mention of the PCD, she smiles a little.]
When she was here, my ward referred to them as "TV phones," although I will admit such description makes little sense to me. They are machines which allow one to speak with others who also inhabit this place, either face to face, as we do now, without seeing the other person, as if speaking through a wall, or in text, as if reading a book.
[Assuming, of course, this is all real. Which it has to be. Has to.]
Are you able to walk, good sir? There is a clinic here, for those who need injuries tended. Lady Unohana is a skilled healer, and there are others who are trained in healing and medicines as well.

Huh. Interesting.
[He rubs the back of his head, which pulls at the burned skin on his shoulders and back and he winces.] I'm not sure if walking is a possibility.

Press the yellow button and we can get you some help with your wounds.

I'm sorry, what was that first bit? Ad...what?
[After a bit more turning, he locates the yellow button and presses it.] Thank you.

[ Got it.. ] Alright, sit tight.

Jack was it? If you need any help, I can come over really quickly if you press the yellow button on this device Ah, bullets. What was is about bullets... Oh!
The shot to the thigh, was it straight though, or any idea of the depth?

Your hair...is that natural?
[He turns over the device a few times, the screen twirling slightly. Finally he finds the button and presses it.]
How does a button make you arrive quickly? [He checks the wound, wincing slightly.] No...it's not straight through, though I think it nearly is.
Reply
Yes it's natural. The button sends me your coordinates. I'm just a very fast flyer.
[In fact, she's already on the way out.]
I'll figure out how to get the bullet out on the way there. My name's Botan. I'm on my way, but you need to keep an eye out of any rabbits or cats that start coming into your sight. They're... carnivorous here. There's a couple of sheep like that, too.

Captain Jack Harkness, at your service. [There's a small, slightly pained smile, an attempt to hide his nervousness.] This must be a strange place indeed if sheep are dangerous.

...Jack? What the hell?

James? [A tinge of relief is obvious in his voice.] What is this place? How did I get here?
Reply
Don't worry about that now, okay? You need medical attention.

[He exhales and nods a bit, knowing that the other man can't see.]
It's good to hear your voice.
