[The screen flickers to show the RAF captain lying unconscious on the ground, dressed in a torn and burned WWII pilot's jumpsuit. He stirs with a groan and a sharp wince of pain, completely unaware he's being recorded.]

[He pushes himself up to a sitting position with a quiet groan, his eyes moving down to the hole in his pant leg.]

Jack was it? If you need any help, I can come over really quickly if you press the yellow button on this device Ah, bullets. What was is about bullets... Oh!
The shot to the thigh, was it straight though, or any idea of the depth?
Reply
Your hair...is that natural?
[He turns over the device a few times, the screen twirling slightly. Finally he finds the button and presses it.]
How does a button make you arrive quickly? [He checks the wound, wincing slightly.] No...it's not straight through, though I think it nearly is.
Reply
Yes it's natural. The button sends me your coordinates. I'm just a very fast flyer.
[In fact, she's already on the way out.]
I'll figure out how to get the bullet out on the way there. My name's Botan. I'm on my way, but you need to keep an eye out of any rabbits or cats that start coming into your sight. They're... carnivorous here. There's a couple of sheep like that, too.

Captain Jack Harkness, at your service. [There's a small, slightly pained smile, an attempt to hide his nervousness.] This must be a strange place indeed if sheep are dangerous.

[Well, it seems like a good, safe example.]
Captain Jack Hark- ness... Really? That's quite a coincidence. There's another man with the same name and rank here.
I'm only... a minute away, if not less. I don't want to startle any animal nests around your area.

Another man with my same name and rank? Strange.

[And she's landing a few feet away from Jack. Running over, she kneels down to get a better look and see if there were any other injuries aside from what was said.]
Now while my method of... medical assistance is pain-free, I'm not sure if that includes the bullet being taken out as well.
Reply
[It takes a moment for him to get over that, and then he's blinking at her in mild confusion.] Pain-free? Is that possible?

[Said with a bit of a shrug. The burns she's pretty sure can be handled, so right now Botan's taking a look at the thigh.]
Usually, yes. What I'm going to try to do might hurt, because the bullet in there will be getting out. I've never actually tried anything that specific.

I've had worse. Any assistance you could provide would be wonderful.

[And there's Botan shuffling around so she's behind him instead. With one hand over the other, a few inches away from the worst of the burns she starts channeling her spirit energy. It will take a few minutes because she's trying to focus it only on the injuries that aren't the bullet wound. While doing that...]
So Jack, where are you from?
Reply
Well, I'm from the States, but the past few years I've been an American volunteer for the RAF.
Reply
[... Probably. Though she's keeping that last word in her head. Nope, just gonna focus on healing these other injuries.]
It sounds like a long way to go to volunteer. Though I'm not sure what the RAF is, exactly.

[He just has to...remember to keep breathing. Very important.]
Royal Air Force. It's the Air Force of Great Britain.

[Breathing is quite very important. Living people kinda need to breathe.]
That is a long way from home. I thought the Americans have an air force as well.

Great Britain needed volunteers. They've been caught up in a huge war. I thought it would be a great opportunity to get out of the house and do something for the world.
