[The screen flickers to show the RAF captain lying unconscious on the ground, dressed in a torn and burned WWII pilot's jumpsuit. He stirs with a groan and a sharp wince of pain, completely unaware he's being recorded.]

Wh--

[He pushes himself up to a sitting position with a quiet groan, his eyes moving down to the hole in his pant leg.]

[The sight of blood has her worried, possible dream or not.]

Good sir, what has happened to you?

[He blinks in surprise, glancing around for the source of the voice until he focuses on the PCD, which he picks up gingerly and peers at it for a moment before replying.]

It...well...It was supposed to be a routine training exercise but it didn't exactly work out the way we'd hoped.

What is this? It's like a miniature theater, only there's an actual person on the other end.

[Routine training exercise? Oh!]

You are a member of a guard, then, good sir? And you - were you attacked? Are you badly injured?

[At his mention of the PCD, she smiles a little.]

When she was here, my ward referred to them as "TV phones," although I will admit such description makes little sense to me. They are machines which allow one to speak with others who also inhabit this place, either face to face, as we do now, without seeing the other person, as if speaking through a wall, or in text, as if reading a book.

[Assuming, of course, this is all real. Which it has to be. Has to.]

Are you able to walk, good sir? There is a clinic here, for those who need injuries tended. Lady Unohana is a skilled healer, and there are others who are trained in healing and medicines as well.

Guard? Oh. Yes, of a sort. The Royal Air Force. [He smiles slightly.] I've had worse.

Huh. Interesting.

[He rubs the back of his head, which pulls at the burned skin on his shoulders and back and he winces.] I'm not sure if walking is a possibility.

[The term 'air force' means nothing to her, but 'royal' does.]

Royal guard? What monarch do you serve, good sir? From what land do you hail? There are people from many different lands in Adstringendum.

[And she's back to being concerned when she sees him wince.]

If I am able to help, I am glad to do so. Need you assistance in walking, good sir? There is a button atop your machine - it will show me where you are. There is a map contained within the machine, and it is unlike any map I have ever seen. I can also send you the coordinates for the clinic, if you like. Then you shall be able to see where you are in relation to it.

There is a king and a queen, but they aren't in charge of everything. That's the Prime Minister. Winston Churchill.

[He smiles slightly at her concern.] Help would be great, thanks. [He finds the button and presses it.] If I could get those coordinates for the clinic, I would really appreciate it.

I am afraid I know not the name, good sir. He, and you, are likely beyond my time, given the clothing you wear.

[It takes her a moment to remember how to send coordinates to a place at which she is not currently, but after a bit of fumbling, she manages it.]

Can you see it on your map, good sir?

Really? [He's intrigued.]

[The image appears and he nods, a slow smile spreading across his face.] That's incredible. Yes, I can see it.

Unless you hail from the fifteenth century, good sir. In which case, I apologize for my assumption.

[She grins, seeing him smile.]

It is most ingenious, is it not? And most helpful. Do you need help in reaching the clinic from where you are? I - I am not very strong, but I will do what I can.

[This is both sort of terrifying and exciting at the same time. He lets his enthusiasm show.] So you're saying this place has people from...not just different places but different times as well?

[He considers for a moment.] I'm not sure...I doubt it, but I'd hate to take from your time.

[She can't help but be excited as well.]

Indeed. It is most enlightening for one such as myself. To meet people from so many different places and times. There are even some here from other worlds entirely!

Good sir, it is no trouble for me to come and help you, should you need it. I promise you that. And both my families are known for being true to their word, Capulet and Montague alike.
