The First Day - Origin [Action]

Mar 14, 2011 16:58

[It's been a week now since Bruce landed in Luceti.  Being the detective he is renowned for back home, he was quick to study Luceti, the guide, and other aspects about the place as quickly as he could.  Being caught unprepared might be lethal.  So when he was confident he had absorbed enough through the guide, simple experimentation, and the like ( Read more... )

[Well, if he wants to learn, the Welcome Center is an ideal place? Rydia will be there for a good portion of the afternoon, helping as many New Feathers as she's able to in that time. It's also possible to run into her at the stores, while she's getting supplies for said center.]

[The stores are a good as place as any, and he'll look over to see Rydia. He's looking for supplies himself, but hey, who's that? Well. It'd be rude to ignore her. She might need a hand!]

Afternoon, miss.

[Rydia's looking over the items in her basket when that voice catches her attention. She blinks, glancing up.]

Hm? Oh, hello! Are you new around here?

[Smithy, eh? Winry will be there for a short bit today, but Bruce will be able to catch her. She... recognizes the face (from the Alternates event) but can't quite recall why. It's... really fuzzy. But she won't address it as she approaches him.]

Sir, may I help you?

[Fortunately for Bruce, he also looks several years younger at this point. Though it's hard to hide the shape of his face and the like from that. But he doesn't suspect anything at the moment.

He steals a quick glance around the Smithy. At first glance there's no sign of his gear. Shame that, but he quickly answers the young woman addressing him.]

Oh, yes. I was actually looking to see if you had a fencing foil.

We might, but I'm not positive. Come with me. [She gestures for him to follow as she heads over toward the bladed weapons section.]

[As he follows Winry, he quickly takes in what weapons are where, if there's anything that looks like his gear around. Doesn't appear to be, but the store has quite a supply of various weapons...

Hm. Seems that more primitive weapons are most common around here, but if magic is common, it's hard to say anything else for sure about these...]

What can I get you?

[ the barmaid at good spirits will stop by his table -- or perhaps his barstool if he's not at a table? -- with a polite smile. ]

[He looks over to her from his stool. He's up at the bar, but it's pretty quiet in here right now.]

Just a cup of coffee for me, thanks.

Sure. And you take it...?

[ she slips behind the bar and deposits a few empties collected from a table across the room. ]

[Someone else is at the library studying, a young Japanese woman to judge by her features, in her late teens perhaps. She offers Bruce a polite, quiet nod as she peeks up from her book, a rather thick textbook.]

[And quietly, this is a library after all, Bruce responds.]

Good afternoon.

Just browsing at the moment. Got any recommendations? I generally prefer non-fiction.

[Jilly's not one to stay in one place for long, so it's a morning of picking up new books from the library, gathering groceries from the shop and then, eventually, settling on a bench outside to continue sketching the residents of Luceti. She's not doing a lot to draw attention to herself, but she's hard to miss...especially for someone who's sensitive to when they're being watched and, in this case, very possibly drawn.]

[He does get a sense of being watched. He has to develop such senses to survive as Batman. At first he says nothing, but he keeps an eye over his shoulder inconspicuously.

If you want to live to a ripe old age, you have to have your eyes everywhere at once.]

[if you don't want to become the subject of sketches, you shouldn't have such a striking profile. By this reasoning, this situation is entirely his own fault.]
