The First Day - Origin [Action]

Mar 14, 2011 16:58

[It's been a week now since Bruce landed in Luceti.  Being the detective he is renowned for back home, he was quick to study Luceti, the guide, and other aspects about the place as quickly as he could.  Being caught unprepared might be lethal.  So when he was confident he had absorbed enough through the guide, simple experimentation, and the like ( Read more... )

[Well, if he wants to learn, the Welcome Center is an ideal place? Rydia will be there for a good portion of the afternoon, helping as many New Feathers as she's able to in that time. It's also possible to run into her at the stores, while she's getting supplies for said center.]

[The stores are a good as place as any, and he'll look over to see Rydia. He's looking for supplies himself, but hey, who's that? Well. It'd be rude to ignore her. She might need a hand!]

Afternoon, miss.

[Rydia's looking over the items in her basket when that voice catches her attention. She blinks, glancing up.]

Hm? Oh, hello! Are you new around here?

Yes, I just arrived last week. Name's Gaff. Gaff Morgan.

[The name doesn't register, but the voice seems familiar, so she just chalks it up to the New Feather flood.]

I'm Rydia of Mist, one of the volunteers at the Welcome Center. It's nice to meet you.

Nice to meet you too, Miss Rydia. So, you're one of the people who work at the Center? I didn't really stop by yet. Do most people when they first come in?

[She shrugs.]

Probably not everyone, but plenty do. Whenever we find people dropped in the woods, we take them there to warm up and get answers and the like. Raine's guide helps, but so does speaking with a person. I'm heading back there after I finish with these errands, in fact.

Need any help with them?

[Rydia smiles warmly.]

I won't say no. Thank you, that's very kind.

My pleasure.

[He heads over to her.]

Need me to hold anything?

[She points to the other, full, shopping basket. It's not extremely heavy, but it's much less awkward for Rydia to carry one than both.]

I have the basket, but if you could carry that extra one? I'm trying to do a much restocking as I can, especially before Selphie's party.

Certainly. [And with that, he goes and picks up the basket.]

So, you got any pearls of wisdom about this place? Like whether or not to avoid the seafood, or something?

[Derp. But it can be interpreted he meant on a broader scale, and that he was just being silly.]

[She chuckles.]

That depends on what you already know. I hope you're at least from a place with electricity, because explaining that can be something of a nightmare. I'm still not sure that was their best idea....

[She grows more thoughtful as they head off.]

Well, the next experiment ought to be in about a week. I wish I could say there's a standard way to prepare for that, but there really isn't.

Electricity's been around where I'm from for more than a century. I know my way around it, thankfully. So there was a time this place didn't have power at all?

[He raises an eyebrow at the mention of the experiments.]

Do you suspect this experiment will be really bad?

[She wrinkles her nose at that.]

It better not be. After that love experiment, I would say everyone here deserves a break from anything 'really bad' for a good while. Not that it's up to me....

...and yes, electricity is a fairly new thing in Luceti. A lot of people -myself included- came from worlds without it, so we had no idea how to use it properly upon first exposure. As you can guess, that caused a lot of mishaps.

Love experiment?

...I can only begin to imagine. I hope no one got seriously hurt from it.
