The First Day - Origin [Action]

[It's been a week now since Bruce landed in Luceti.  Being the detective he is renowned for back home, he was quick to study Luceti, the guide, and other aspects about the place as quickly as he could.  Being caught unprepared might be lethal.  So when he was confident he had absorbed enough through the guide, simple experimentation, and the like ( Read more... )

[Smithy, eh? Winry will be there for a short bit today, but Bruce will be able to catch her. She... recognizes the face (from the Alternates event) but can't quite recall why. It's... really fuzzy. But she won't address it as she approaches him.]

Sir, may I help you?

[Fortunately for Bruce, he also looks several years younger at this point. Though it's hard to hide the shape of his face and the like from that. But he doesn't suspect anything at the moment.

He steals a quick glance around the Smithy. At first glance there's no sign of his gear. Shame that, but he quickly answers the young woman addressing him.]

Oh, yes. I was actually looking to see if you had a fencing foil.

We might, but I'm not positive. Come with me. [She gestures for him to follow as she heads over toward the bladed weapons section.]

[As he follows Winry, he quickly takes in what weapons are where, if there's anything that looks like his gear around. Doesn't appear to be, but the store has quite a supply of various weapons...

Hm. Seems that more primitive weapons are most common around here, but if magic is common, it's hard to say anything else for sure about these...]

You're more than welcome to search our stock, but if you don't find what you need you can ask anyone who works here to commission it for you.

[Here we are by the swords and stuff. Feel free to browse.]

You do commission work? For just weapons, or for all kinds of stuff?

[His voice is curious, actually interested in what you do here, Winry. He begins looking through the swords, passing over all of the long swords and heavier blades, but his search becomes a little slower when he reaches the rapiers. The foils wouldn't be hard to find beyond that if they had anything.]

Plenty of things! I've made bicycles and ballistic vests here, though my specialty is prosthesis. [She can't not tell anybody about that last bit. It's a matter of pride.]

Prosthetics? Admirable work! How do you do it with so little equipment here? This sort of place doesn't exactly seem friendly to that sort of craft.

[That catches his attention. In a good way. Also it might help him learn something here.]

I haven't been able to do much in that line of work, here. I've done some repair jobs on androids and pre-installed prosthetic limbs, but I've yet to install one on my own here.

[But when Legato gets back she has a promise to keep. He'll be her first.]

Androids show up here too? Guess the guide wasn't kidding about this place having all sorts of things. I always thought those were fictional.

[A dreamy sigh.] Me too. [And an almost implied, "Aren't they great?"]

You really have an appreciation for all things mechanical, huh? I take it the androids here aren't the "killer" android type. Those were popular in comics and serials, anyway.

Not the ones I've met, no! One I know, Luka, she was made to be a singer.

A singing android. Who would've guessed? Is she any good?

Well, of course! And you know, not even a week ago I met a guy who had to be more than two-thirds machine. It was pretty cool.

So I'm guess you're a new feather, huh?
