Yeah, it's your prompt! FINALLY. Everything I else on worked on in the interim, I'd have this feeling of terrible guilt... Colonel, what are you doing, you should be working on Eve's prequel prompt... I hope it was worth the wait. :3

As you see, I took my sweet time with this, but I can't really say I'm sorry for that. It deserved to be savored, and yes, it was well worth the wait. (Don't be sorry for making me wait. I like to look forward to a good thing: like a kid waiting for Christmas. Can't speak for your other fans, though ( ... )

I love unfiltered reactions! They're my favorite! *reads gleefully*

Really glad you enjoyed the family stuff, since this is probably the only time we'll get to see the Humes in person. I had to make it count! I had to make my hatred for them palpable. O___O

I'm actually quite pleased that you know Ratigan well enough to know that the jewelry murders were not his style. ;) Poor Basil, he's only just starting out and doesn't know better yet. Well, I guess it won't be long before he knows Ratigan too well, so I suppose he should cherish his ignorance while it lasts. 9_9

lol, you're right, that is the most Disney moment in the series so far! I can just see him all fluffy and bedraggled, shaking off the snow so that it flies everywhere. For maximum Disney effect, it splatters on some older boring constables who tut with disapproval. XD

HEE. I KNEW you would catch that detail. Your prompt, your rules. :3 I wasn't able to fit much Ratigan in there, but he already got his turn in Smoke and Mirrors. He was quite annoyed ( ... )

Yeah, no, I couldn't hold out at all.

This was fantastic! A little murder mystery, a meaty chunk of Basil backstory (allllways love~) with a healthy helping of our hero's major character arc.. and what a beginning to Basil and Ratigan's professional rivalry! :D

Forgive me these next bits, I just commented as I read.

Th-they turned his bedroom into the guest room :( So much dislike for the Hume patriarch and heir. Dickbags..

And huzzah, the return of Basil's mother! God, bedridden and mysteriously ill, she's still such a powerful presence. I'd misinterpreted some of the Hume family background you gave in the meme thread--you weren't kidding about Basil and his brother being bred to specific things by their parents O_O It was kind of a relief to see Basil with the favor of someone in his distressing family, but what a complex and fraught sort of familial tie theirs was! (Think Basil taking off again might've sped her decline? I can see them both thinking it--his mum especially and, well, she was always all about mind over ( ... )

lol, sorry to tempt you away from your finals, but always glad to hear from you. ^_^

Haha, necessity drove my parents to turn my old bedroom into the guest room, and I gotta say, the first time I came home for a visit, it really sucked. It was like, "Oh. Oh, I see." So it's great that you were able to get a hint of Basil's distress from that detail. :P

Mama Huma has been such a powerful unseen presence in the stories that I was really nervous about writing her in person. Very glad to hear that she hasn't lost any of her potency, even when she's coughing her lungs out. And I wouldn't be surprise if she willed herself to an early death, just to punish Basil for abandoning her a second time. She's a nasty piece of work ( ... )

If anything, Mama Hume still being such a force for command and manipulation in spite of being a frail little bedridden body just reinforces why she's such a powerful presence in Basil's life and his subconscious. So I thought that worked out beautifully!

OF COURSE OF COURSE BASIL, purely intellectual challenge, it's perfectly common to picture those when you beat off, there there.. *patpat*

Oh my no, I haven't had time for fun fanarty stuff (also haven't drawn anthros before, which is sure to prove a challenge.. Though actually I guess these are just furs... *cries* Might have to reverse-engineer some human versions or something... or just leave them like that -_-) Wh-where might one find this delightful Constable Basil fanart? :D

Yayyyyy. :D

I love the scene where he quits, too. I'm digging the American Idol comparison, lol! I was also inspired by a scene in the movie Vampire's Kiss when Nicolas Cage goes charging through an office and makes a flying leap up onto a desk. It seemed like a very Basil-esque gesture. ^_^

Haha, "Basil = GAY" is pretty much the thesis statement of this series. XDDD I'm really glad that you love the way I write. I've been working on that for a long, long time. :)

Yeah, I feel like I kind of flaked out on the relationship with Father, but Mother is just so overwhelming that there wasn't much room for anything else (the fic was already 10,000 words long and I was getting self-conscious... -___-). Not sure about the proper term for that particular kind of attraction, but have you ever seen The Manchurian Candidate? There's a bit of my inspiration for a mother who's a little TOO interested in her son's life ( ... )

.....I saw The Manchurian Candidate a long time ago, so I don't remember much of it... But if there's a creepy Mother/Son relationship, I'm there! I'll have to re-watch it. I've recently learned that pretty much everything you like/write about is AWESOME, therefore, I should go read it/watch it. Lol, slightly stalkerish, I know. But I was reading some of your Fullmetal Alchemist stories, but I wasn't really sure who the characters were, or what their relationship was (And I NEED a face for a name), so I looked it up on Wikipedia. Lol - My first reaction: Oh! Hello Roy... You're preeetty! So I watched an episode online. Then another. Then another. And here I am, on the... 25th (? I think..) episode of the Brotherhood series. I CAN'T BELIEVE MAES DIED SO SOOOON!!!!! >:O

Oh! This was supposed to be about GMD. LOL. I can't waaaaait for the neeeext ooone!!! Eeeeeee!

The best part of the Manchurian Candidate relationship (and this is in the book but not the movies) is that the mother is in love with her son--- because he reminds her of her father! :O

And I don't mind having a stalker if it means getting to share my interests with other people! Because, obviously, since I'm interested in them, I think they're pretty awesome already. XD I hope you're enjoying the new stuff!

The event of which you speak happens in the tenth episode of Brotherhood, but the twenty-fifth episode of the first anime. If you ARE watching the first anime, GOOD. Brotherhood SUCKS compared to the first anime (writing quality, animation quality, you name it). Don't watch Brotherhood. The FMA first anime is all you need to love the story. Better animation, better performances, better storytelling. And the music. Tell me the music isn't incredible. T__T

I'll change the subject to ramble about FMA ANYTIME. There's a reason I've written so many fics for it. ^_^

You know I should work on essays and seminar papers instead I HAVE to read your stories!!!! XD

I really love them soooo much, the way the characters more and more develope, it is just fantastic!

And I adore your Mrs. Judson, she really is practical, but you also made her soft-hearted ^^

Oh no! Don't neglect your studies! MAMA HUME WOULD NOT APPROVE. XD

I actually wrote a much, MUCH longer version of the Mrs. Judson segment at the end, and then I was like, no, this should either be cut or be its own story. So maybe I will write more about her someday. Maybe a whole fic from her POV! Who knows? ^_^
