Yayyyyy. :D

I love the scene where he quits, too. I'm digging the American Idol comparison, lol! I was also inspired by a scene in the movie Vampire's Kiss when Nicolas Cage goes charging through an office and makes a flying leap up onto a desk. It seemed like a very Basil-esque gesture. ^_^

Haha, "Basil = GAY" is pretty much the thesis statement of this series. XDDD I'm really glad that you love the way I write. I've been working on that for a long, long time. :)

Yeah, I feel like I kind of flaked out on the relationship with Father, but Mother is just so overwhelming that there wasn't much room for anything else (the fic was already 10,000 words long and I was getting self-conscious... -___-). Not sure about the proper term for that particular kind of attraction, but have you ever seen The Manchurian Candidate? There's a bit of my inspiration for a mother who's a little TOO interested in her son's life...

ARGH TYPO. Thank you SO much for bringing that to my attention IMMEDIATELY. I FIXED IT. 9_9

Well, to be fair, Basil was out of town for the first two murders--- I don't think Mr. Cole would have lasted long if Basil had been actively on the case. And one of the main suspects in the Ripper case was a misogynist with a wife, which is where I got the idea! Contradictions all over the place!

Oh. Oh, just you wait. I am not finished with Ratigan's Catholicism. I've got a doozy planned. Just you wait... *sinister laugh*

Thanks so much, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! :D

.....I saw The Manchurian Candidate a long time ago, so I don't remember much of it... But if there's a creepy Mother/Son relationship, I'm there! I'll have to re-watch it. I've recently learned that pretty much everything you like/write about is AWESOME, therefore, I should go read it/watch it. Lol, slightly stalkerish, I know. But I was reading some of your Fullmetal Alchemist stories, but I wasn't really sure who the characters were, or what their relationship was (And I NEED a face for a name), so I looked it up on Wikipedia. Lol - My first reaction: Oh! Hello Roy... You're preeetty! So I watched an episode online. Then another. Then another. And here I am, on the... 25th (? I think..) episode of the Brotherhood series. I CAN'T BELIEVE MAES DIED SO SOOOON!!!!! >:O

Oh! This was supposed to be about GMD. LOL. I can't waaaaait for the neeeext ooone!!! Eeeeeee!

The best part of the Manchurian Candidate relationship (and this is in the book but not the movies) is that the mother is in love with her son--- because he reminds her of her father! :O

And I don't mind having a stalker if it means getting to share my interests with other people! Because, obviously, since I'm interested in them, I think they're pretty awesome already. XD I hope you're enjoying the new stuff!

The event of which you speak happens in the tenth episode of Brotherhood, but the twenty-fifth episode of the first anime. If you ARE watching the first anime, GOOD. Brotherhood SUCKS compared to the first anime (writing quality, animation quality, you name it). Don't watch Brotherhood. The FMA first anime is all you need to love the story. Better animation, better performances, better storytelling. And the music. Tell me the music isn't incredible. T__T

I'll change the subject to ramble about FMA ANYTIME. There's a reason I've written so many fics for it. ^_^

Butting in like a rude SOB to flail a bit about the original FMA series too ^_^;; Oh man. Like, I've heard that Brotherhood is supposed to be a truer version of the manga canon or something but it's just so uninteresting that I haven't even pushed beyond the stuff they've already covered in the first series.

Talk about rehashing everything the first series covered, with half the time spent on introducing the characters and getting us to care about them. The designs also seem to be sticking closer to the manga, which just aren't as pretty in animated form T_T And with the barest fraction of the first series' subtlety! How much more eerie and terrifying was the Elrics' failed transfigured!mum when we only see jump cuts of the parts of her, shrouded in smoke, versus Brotherhood's big reveal which was just.. yep, there she is. Squishy mum, you're seeing it all, folks -_-

I know there are plenty of complaints around the fandom about the way the first series ended, but damn it, that series knew how to do pacing and character arcs! /OT

*sobs* YES YES EXACTLY. T_____T

Seriously. I have a Very Special Rant about FMA (which is mostly targeted against the manga, which went to hell in a handbasket), but you've covered a lot of the same ground already--- especially the notes about subtlety and character development.

FIRST SERIES ALL THE WAY~ <333

Also, your icon. SHUT UP I LOVE FLAPJACK TOO LET'S BE FRIENDS

Honestly, my entire watch-through of the first twenty episodes of Brotherhood with my other FMA peeps (and that was about the number that we've been able to sit through..) consisted of nothing but commentary comparing the series and moaning about how the first one did it better. "Wh- that's your idea of build up??" "You haven't made us care about this person at all! You can't make us sad about them now!" "WHAT'S WRONG WITH HIS FACE?"

I think thus far, the only ep I've seen that came close to getting an emotional reaction was with Shou and Nina, and of course, that still didn't even compare to how the first series' approach to the Tuckers utterly destroyed me -_-

Ah well. Gotta milk the cash cow. (Still, of all the series to revamp, why such a recent one that was already so good already? >_< I want a revamped Trigun or the last Kenshin arc or something.) /whine

FRIENDS FOREVER EXCELLENT XD

Ugh, you made it farther than me. I think I managed about ten episodes. I just couldn't take it. -___- lol at "WHAT'S WRONG WITH HIS FACE?" because that was my biggest problem with it. They're just so hideous. D:

Also, I don't know if you've looked at my FMA fics, but I kind of have a... thing... for Shou Tucker... 9_9 And you're right, the first series handled him so much better. I don't think even the mangaka knew what an amazing character she had on her hands, killing him off so soon--- he had incredible potential for growth and the first series gave him that chance. He's a perfect parallel for Edward (I mean he's basically Ed's Ghost of Christmas Future) and deserved to be kept around. *Tucker's Only Fangirl sits down and cries bitter tears.* XD

OMG YES **RAINBOW OF FRIENDSHIP**

..... It's really that much better? Because I was enjoying Brotherhood... I mean yes, I guess I can see what you guys mean about character development... Maes was killed in like, the 9th episode, and I've seen so many fics about him - I was like: Really? This dude that had ten lines?

YOU WANT ME TO START ALL OVER AGAIN?? I'm on the 25th episode! I wanna know what haaaaappens....

You can go ahead and finish Brotherhood if you want. ^_^ It has a completely different ending from the first anime, anyway, so you should see it play out. They made the first anime when the manga was only halfway finished so they got to make up their own (mostly superior) ending, whereas Brotherhood was mostly made for the sake of having a slavishly accurate recreation of the manga (which was a mistake, since the manga had its share of problems that the first anime tried to iron out).

Yeah, Maes is the most crucial example, I think! If you watch the first anime you will fall in love with him! They make sure of it! Brotherhood mostly assumes that you've read the manga so you already know what's coming. They're just hitting all the plot points with no real character depth...

Anyway. Rambling. Watch whatever you like, but do try to see the first anime at some point--- it's a really solid piece of work. :D

I'll watch both! I just started on Fullmetal Alchemist...I'm on the chimera episode - It's one of my favorites in Brotherhood.

...This is going to take a while, lol. My poor laptop.

If by "chimera episode" you mean "Shou Tucker episode" then I am so excited. Shou Tucker is my favorite character in the series, largely because of the character work they do with him in the first anime. :D

I started the episode where they introduce Shou Tucker and his daughter and just assumed that it would be like the Brotherhood episode... Talking chimeras ahoy, and a dead daughter. I'm on the second episode with Tucker now!

That's because the first anime loves Shou like I do. T__T <3

See what I mean about the first anime taking its time with character development? They even make Tucker a fully-rounded character, instead of tossing him aside as just another plot device!

Yes, I see what you mean... I'm even starting to feel sympathetic toward Tucker, even though I know what he's going to do - All of that pressure, epecially from the Brigadier General.

I finished the episode where Nina is killed. I actually found that the Brotherhood episode tugged on my heart stings more.. When Scar kills Tucker and Nina is telling him to stop hurting her Dad. :( That was so saaad. Oh! But in FMA, Scar's dialog is interesting... I like how he doesn't remember anything yet, and his deconstruction is whoa - violeeent.

Buuut, the character development of Tucker made the episodes more interesting overall. In Brotherhood, his motivation was to stay in the house, have money and the honor. I liked that in FMA he was comparing himself to Ed, and that they both were pushing the limits, just to see if they could. It makes me empathetic to him -- if I had that kind of brain power, I would be awfully tempted to try it out on something taboo. Maybe not going as far as melting my daughter and dog together, but you know what I mean!

Hey, I should really stop commenting on this page..
