Apparently the debt limit extension will include a provision to permanently prohibit the Treasury department using so-called extraordinary measures to avoid default. So they get to hold a gun to Obama's head and he isn't allowed to duck.

1. No Obamacare. OK, I got that.

2. What else? They want spending cuts, apparently. To what? What are they proposing, exactly? If they have specific proposals, they are doing a very poor job of getting them out.

Obama says once the government is open and the debt ceiling is raised, he is willing to negotiate. So the idea of pushing everything out six weeks and saying "ok, show us your negotiating" strikes me as pretty smart. Which means the tea party will hate it and Boehner will refuse to do it.
