Interesting list. He's a retailer, so it looks like he might be steering toward the ultra-premium brands.

Under "Cheap" he lists "Greek Mark" but I think that might be "Green Mark" which I've seen at Total Wine but never tried. Might give it a shot.

I've never been able to spot the subtleties in vodka either. They all taste just about the same to me.

In any kind of mixed drink, I can't tell any difference at all.

Straight, sometimes really cheap vodka has an off taste. But among higher priced brands, I also have a tough time. I've tried having several brands in the freezer at once and tasting them blind...nothing. Especially compared to scotches, where the differences are profound.
