The six week plan

Oct 05, 2013 18:31

Obama says once the government is open and the debt ceiling is raised, he is willing to negotiate. So the idea of pushing everything out six weeks and saying "ok, show us your negotiating" strikes me as pretty smart. Which means the tea party will hate it and Boehner will refuse to do it.

What makes you think President Feckless has any intention of negotiating now, as opposed to any time in the past 4.75 years he's had to "negotiate" with the GOP?

Oh, I doubt that he's sincere. But the GOP can put him on the spot.

BTW, I don't think he's the only one who hasn't negotiated in good faith. I seem to remember a "bargain" in 2011 the Boehner backed away from.

based on my reading this was proposed by the GOP and the article wonders if the Dems and Obama will accept. I think Eric has it right

Right, that's why the proposed spending is lower than the original Ryan budget, no compromising by the dems. Obama's the one who was willing to give big chunks of entitlements as part of the grand bargain. He gave a lot in the sequester. No public option in Obamacare. He's negotiated plenty away.
