Today makes ten years to the date that I was laid off from Meritor, my first job in the automotive industry. I spent four years there, and there are things I liked about working there and things I didn't like. Had I not been laid off I would not have gotten the job I have now, which I like much better.

Something today reminded me of a thing that happened four or five months ago.
As I walked out of the supermarket I saw two little birds on the walkway, about ten yards away. A woman in her late fifties/early sixties was walking toward me, and had with her two small children, about four or five years old. She said, "Look at the little birdies!"

My reunion was Saturday. Rather than a reunion of just one class it was extended to the classes of 1978 through 86. This is a good idea, since most people have lots of friends older and younger than them in high school, and it's nice to see them twenty or twenty-five years later. Atlanta traffic, also known as Hell with the Lid Off, is not something I look forward to. It wasn't enough to start going once a month with some friends, now I'm asked to make special trips there in between the usual trips. This started out ok, but is getting old. On May 16th, 1990, Jim Henson and Sammy Davis, jr, died.
Today, Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett have died.
