I just walked to the Kroger and dumped my coins into the coinstar machine there. I've been putting off doing that for a while. This morning, when I saw my advisor at the airport, he asked me whether I woke up with that amazing feeling of being done with the thesis forever. And I am, I turned in the paperwork yesterday (or whatever Tuesday was... time zones...). A teacher and friend
Last week, Al Leopold, Mr. Leopold to me, passed away. He was 96. He was my baritone horn/trombone/tuba teacher, from about 4th grade all the way until I left for college, and even then, I'd still stop in every now and then, at first for a lesson, and later, just to talk ( Read more... ) -
Count-up
I have the pedestal for my thesis now (I think), now that the outline is done. Eight chapters, two appendices, and a whole bunch of auto-generated stuff like the bibliography and TOC. The pedestal value is 11 pre-pages (xi), and 13 real pages. So, now I need to soak up the white space from the chapters having their own pages, and start expanding ( Read more... ) -

I did a little bit of searching tonight (procrastination, I suppose). I finally managed to find my advisor's advisor's advisor. My grand-advisor actually tried to go advisor-less, found it was too difficult, and wound up with an official advisor who signed things, and a de-factor research advisor.
