So, I'm a doctor now
I'm pretty overdue for posting this kind of thing here. I passed my defense. I'm a doctor of philosophy now. Pretty cool.
I've been doing a lot of travel lately. Trips for job interviews, mostly. I've had a lot of interesting observations, and I never write/type them down in a timely manner.
I visited Boston to see my grandmother a couple weeks ago. It was really good to see her. My primary mission was to give her a chance to brag about me, and to spend some quality time with her. I had no idea how far she'd go, though. I'm pretty much a minor celebrity in the place where she's staying. At one point, I was just standing, waiting for the elevator, and a young lady who I'd never seen before asks me "are you the one who just got his PhD in physics?
Anyway, it was a very nice visit to Boston. Presently, I'm in Palo Alto, CA. Hopefully I will find time to write up some more exciting stories about my trips, but right now, I think it is best to hit "post" and get ready for my job talk.
