Finishing up my last shift on this detector. Doesn't seem so long ago I was a brand new student, first time in Japan, curious about everything, and nervous as well.

Well, honestly, I'm not going to miss taking shifts that much. Or much of anything about the detector. Just the people, and maybe a couple other things. It has been a great experience working on Super Kamiokande (and also T2K). And I'm sad to go, but also excited to move on to new and exciting things (which are still, as of yet, unknown).

Last night, rather than sleep, like a sane person would (I still got about 3 hours), I went out to dinner with some of the people here. It took about forever for us to gt together, since the people with the cell phones (Japanese and Chinese) were giving directions to meet by the parking lot of Macudonerudo. That was not very helpful, and got the English speakers lost. McDonalds is only a good landmark if you can manage to communicate it.

Anyway, when we finally did get together, the meal (omurice) was very nice, and we had a lovely time chatting together, in mostly English with some Japanese. My Japanese has come along far enough that I can awkwardly say a decent few things. I'm rather impressed with myself. There's been a number of successful communications in Japanese for me this trip.

Well, that's the call. I'm done now. I think I will need to take a nap.
