A Hasidic parallel to Fandom and Male Privilege. The patriarchy creates rules that exclude and cordon off women, and then men complain that the spaces women make for themselves and their interests "exclude" men.

Here, now, on her seventh birthday, I have had to explain to my daughter (not for the first time) that some day, people will try to take away some of her right to make her own decisions just because she's a girl.
