The average high for today in March is 37 degrees, with a low of 21.  Today, right now it's 5 and might make it up to a tropical 16.  When I signed up for the marathon in May, I did not know that Madison was going to experience its snowiest and coldest winter on record, or that running in said cold would cause me to wake up every morning with gunk ( Read more... )

So, I came home early to go skiing, but on the bus i was just tired/nauseous etc. and by the time I got here, checked the ski report, found they hadn't groomed it in a few days and the trails are essentially nonexistant, and used it as an excuse to sit at home and watch spike TV ( Read more... )

Ok, I've said it before... Well, the ski trip this weekend with the folks was canceled due to the cold weather, and I did pretty much nothing all weekend.  And yesterday for that matter.  Got up for a 5.5 run on the olbrich loop this morning, it was really snowy, 8 degrees, and I just really had a hard time getting into it.  Nothing really hurts, but I feel out of shape.  ( Read more... )

I need to get faster or get myself more hours in the day.  Still stuck at my 10 min pace, although it was really snowy and slippery, so i guess that was pretty good and once it thaws, I should be faster.  Ran to picnic point, decided i didn't bring my snow shoes, so ran up to university ave. along the path, out and back loop in exactly 1:40.  I ( Read more... )

Well, the UW closed yesterday for the 17 inches of snow that we got.  Unfortunately, it closed at 3:30, and my last class started at 2:30 ah well.  Needless to say, no running cuz of the blizzard, but I skiied across the lake to and from class today... it took about 40-45 min each way, prolly only about 35 of which were actual skiing and the rest ( Read more... )
