Today's run was only 4 miles, but that was so that I could run my last mile knowing that it was the hundredth mile of the year! Instead of bringing my ipod, i just enjoyed the early morning light and sunrise. Out to the Sherman RR and back, much better than the last time I ran it (in a blizzard). 36 minutes, 2 seconds, with a stop at the midpoint (18:06) for stretching... the steam coming off my arms and legs was really pretty, but I'm still looking forward to running in temperatures that are above freezing. I know that in order to break 2 hours in the half marathon, I will have to run that fast, or faster, for all 13.1 miles of the race... I think I can do it. Friday, I need to do a long run, at least 12 miles, maybe 14 if I feel up to it.
Also, I'm finally able to ride my bike to and from class again... sure, I get a little muddy, but it's worth it. So worth it for being able to come and go as I please and not be dependent on the functional but filthy public transit system and the unwashed masses on it. Melodramatic, yes. But you didn't have to sit in the last seat on the bus next to the guy that hadn't seen a shower, bath, or washrag in what smelled like weeks.
