Reflections
Looking back over old entries I came across this one from 2004:
What changed? I got a job in Medical Certificates and life as I knew it changed. The funny thing is that in the 6 months it has taken me to make another entry (can it possibly have been 6 months?!) my life has changed yet again. I guess that is how life goes. Progress
I haven't posted in awhile so I guess here it is:- I moved to a new home where it's just me and the cats... and the hens... and the quail.
- Painting absolutely sucks. I am totally glad that I realized that now before I moved into some big ass house where every room needed some coats - not to mention the exterior

Love
In a couple weeks I will be moving into my new home. For the next few months (at least) I will be renting a place in Portland. This has given me a good opportunity to assess my wants and my needs. Want = live in the country. Need = live in a place that allows me to move slowly getting to work in the morning since I really hate leaving before 7: ( Read more... ) -
Rambling thoughts
This past week has been a blur. I had sinus surgery last week and my sinuses feel soooooooooo raw today. Oh. my. god. It's so bad my gums in my upper jaw are swollen. Still waiting for the V to kick in ( Read more... ) -
Nesting
Beatrice, my top hen, started laying eggs about a month ago. She is 2 years old and had never previously laid. She is now up to an egg a day with a rare day off. Yesterday she got the urge to nest. Usually she is the first one into the coop at night but she stayed in her nest under a fern by the coop. I pulled her off of it when it got really ( Read more... ) -
Coming of Age
I think my male quail came of age tonight. He is now doing the quail call, going sort of beserk and keeps making rough quail love to his cage mate. This is the third time I have seen this random spurt of passion in a male quail and I think it has to be some hormonal thing.

Egg and drive by salute
I came home today to discover that one of my hens laid her very first egg! I don't know which one did it since they were all in the coop together, but it is a beautiful brown egg.
As I was driving down 82nd Avenue tonight the person in the car next to me called out. I looked over to see a man who crossed his arms as soon as we made eye contact. ( Read more... ) -
Joy
Last night I came home from Iyawo Omi L'ade's throno. I really loved being in Yemaya's throne all weekend and taking care of my "little" sister. And now she knows me for the goofball I truly am. The henhouse
I have three hens now, Morticia - a black Australorp, Lola a Speckled Sussex and Beatrice a Buff Brahma Bantam. Morticia and Lola are only 2.5 months old and were raised together. Beatrice is a saucy wench who has declared herself alpha hen and wishes the other two would get the heck out of her castle, er I mean coop. They have only been ( Read more... ) -
The Summer of the Road Trip
- I am officially declaring this the summer of the road trip. I really want to check out some new places such as the Olympic Peninsula, Spokane, Idaho, etc. I am sure they aren't necessarily exciting but seeing as I have never been...
