[Mingler-ish] Brats and smug rats

Jan 20, 2011 13:24

Zhane has had a great time keeping his ' promise' to Wolfram. In fact, he's never been so amused - after some work (and this is why it took so long to happen), he's finally managed to work out a sign that reads exactly what he wants it to read.

It's pink.  It's in blinking lights. It's absolutely obnoxious. It's also in the common room.

Eeyore can read fairly well, but he's slow at it and tends to trip over some of the Bigger Words. Thus he's sitting in front of the Blinking Sign, reading the words Very Slowly and Carefully, though the blinking is making it a bit Hard for Him to Read. He may be tilting his head and scratching his ear with a hind hoof and muttering a bit to himself.

"Dreadful blinking, can hardly read it...What's this about donkeys?"

He got that word, at least.

The voice is decidedly not one he knows, and Zhane is made curious by the question.

He peeks through the other door, discreetly.

He'll gawk at the 'donkey' in a minute.

He reads it over again, even more slowly. "'We... of-fer... our... deep-est.. app-pol... app-poll-o... app-poll-oh-gees... to... all... donkeys...and...' Oh bother, it blinks too much. Hurts my eyes."

Throughout the painful reading, Zhane actually poked his head out of his hiding place. "Apologies," he completes. Pause. -- "You're actually a donkey?"

Yes, he does like to state the obvious on occasion.

Tsuzuki is a kid at heart, and thus he's drawn like a moth to the blinking lights. Then he realizes, it's a sign, which only makes it that funnier.

"Okay... who's the 'Snotty Lordship'?" he asks, laughing, of no one in particular.

Meanwhile, Pascal, who was on his way to the library, is blinking about as much as the annoying sign. He can't even read it - he's too busy boggling at the set up... and bumps straight into Tsuzuki, actually.

"-- oh, I'm so sorry--"

Hope that's alright? Figured it might make sense, since he's also met Wolfie...

The bump actually knocks him on the floor -- he's that distracted and that clumsy at times. But from his prone position, he looks up, chuckling. "Hey, it's okay: I was distracted by that thing, too," he says. And hello, it's the slim, violet-eyed fellow who ate his way through the buffet at Christmas, only much less green about the gills this time.

Pascal can be distracted, but he never forgets a patient! "Monsieur Tsuzuki," he says, offering a hand. "I seem to always meet you on the horizontal position, don't I?"

He's very amused. "I hope I didn't harm you, with my clumsiness."

Murata walks in and sees the sign. Reading it with a thoughtful expression he then grins to himself and wouldn't be surprised to find out this was about Wolfram. He knows very well how the blond is.

A girl in an old-fashioned gown comes up behind him. She's gotten used to the lights that burn without a flame, but she's never seen them do this. And the sight is enough to make her back away in fear. "Is it... supposed to do that?" she asks. "Is it a spell?"

Murata turns his head to look at her. One glance up and down to her dress is enough to tell him what she's frightened about.

"It's all right... It's just technology. I'm going to guess that you're from before the 1800's..." His voice is calming.

"Yes, the year of Our Lord 1799," she says. "I am Catherine Morland, of Fullerton." She looks at the blinkensign and asks, "Are such things common in a time when there is more... technology?"

Neville is just heading outdoors, when the blinking pink from the common room stops him in his tracks. He pauses in the door-way, breaks into a wide grin and then promptly bursts into laughter. He doesn't know who it's intended for, but that doesn't matter. It makes him think of the Weasley twins and their pranking. "Brilliant." He's still laughing.

Speaking of twins! Here's a pair of them, in the right age range (at least in appearance). They're not redheads, seeing as they are neither the Weasleys nor Ambarussa, but Elured and Elurin have been slowly building a reputation for pranks themselves.

They're giggling, right behind Neville, for the same reason as him.

Hope that's alright? I just couldn't resist. >.>

Neville turns, and seeing twins, it only seems to make his laugh deepen. "Is this your handiwork?" he finally manages to ask a little breathlessly.

It's more than all right! Yayness! <3

"Actually, it's not," one of them replies, still laughing. "But I wish it was," the other one adds.

Elured and Elurin are actually curious about how that was done.

Iggy's blind and probably misses out on the sign, though he does hear laughter and wanders into the common room to investigate.

He doesn't hear anything special or smell anything different...

A short while later, Genevieve wanders in - she has no idea what Zhane was up to, and can barely seen the fine print, under all the blinking.

"-- Oh, hello Iggy --"

She's too bothered by the blinking lights to actually find anything funny, actually.

The prankster will probably be along a bit later, but I thought she'd show up too - it's been a while, aye? ^^

Iggy turns slightly towards Genevieve's voice and offers a distracted smile. "Hey. Um... What's going on?"

No worries. Sorry it took so long to reply.

"Zhane's set up a prank, I think," Genevieve replies, frowning. "It's not very tasteful."

*snugs* Hope all is well with you! And no worries, I'm slow too... <3
