[Mingler-ish] Brats and smug rats

Jan 20, 2011 13:24

Zhane has had a great time keeping his ' promise' to Wolfram. In fact, he's never been so amused - after some work (and this is why it took so long to happen), he's finally managed to work out a sign that reads exactly what he wants it to read.

It's pink.  It's in blinking lights. It's absolutely obnoxious. It's also in the common room.

We offer our ( Read more... )

Tsuzuki is a kid at heart, and thus he's drawn like a moth to the blinking lights. Then he realizes, it's a sign, which only makes it that funnier.

"Okay... who's the 'Snotty Lordship'?" he asks, laughing, of no one in particular.

Meanwhile, Pascal, who was on his way to the library, is blinking about as much as the annoying sign. He can't even read it - he's too busy boggling at the set up... and bumps straight into Tsuzuki, actually.

"-- oh, I'm so sorry--"

Hope that's alright? Figured it might make sense, since he's also met Wolfie...

The bump actually knocks him on the floor -- he's that distracted and that clumsy at times. But from his prone position, he looks up, chuckling. "Hey, it's okay: I was distracted by that thing, too," he says. And hello, it's the slim, violet-eyed fellow who ate his way through the buffet at Christmas, only much less green about the gills this time.

Pascal can be distracted, but he never forgets a patient! "Monsieur Tsuzuki," he says, offering a hand. "I seem to always meet you on the horizontal position, don't I?"

He's very amused. "I hope I didn't harm you, with my clumsiness."

He giggles at this quip and pulls himself to his feet. "Yeah, it seems that way, though at least this time I'm not stuffed to the gills,' he says laughing. "But don't worry about me, I'm made of tough stuff." He pauses, glancing at the sign. "But...just what is *that* for, does anyone know?"

Pascal blinks at the sign. "That," he says, "is a waste of perfectly good energy," he decides. "And quite poor in taste. Can you read the sign, Monsieur?"

"Just barely: it's blinking so much it's making me dizzy, but it looks like it's some kind of message, an apology to some snotty lord," he says, rubbing his eyes. "Wonder who that could be?"

"I'm sure there could be any number of them at the mansion," Pascal replies, chuckling. "Just a few months ago I had a rather memorable encounter with one of them..."

"Oh? I can't say I've always had the best experiences with royalty here, either, though I do try to make a good impression," he says. "What happened?"

Pascal shrugs, amused. "Some little princeling mistook me for his kitchen servant once."

Then again, Felix wasn't far from doing that when they first met... but still.

"He wouldn't happen to be a guy with brown hair and a drab-looking face?" he asks. "I fell into the pond in the fall and some snotty bastard who claimed to be a king wouldn't help me out of the damn thing." From the irritated look in his eye, Tsuzuki hasn't let that one go. Not that he could drown, but still...

Pascal looks and sounds amused as he responds to Tsuzuki's inquiry. "I suspect not," he replies. "The one I encountered was blond, and claimed to be a prince. He had no ability to fend for himself whatsoever."

Here, a careless shrug.

"I can't say that I know him, at least not yet: there's a lot of people here that I haven't met, though i've sort of become one of the greeters here, since I found myself here about a year ago," he says.

Pascal chuckles. "Ah, yes, greeting." He shakes his head. "I've come to believe it was a normal stage of acclimatisation in this place."

He used to greet quite a bit himself, in the first year of his stay at the Mansion.

"Oh, yeah, I don't mind sharing the job of greeting folks: I figure, the more people a person meets here, the more they can find out about this place and maybe feel at home," he says. "I know I felt that way after about the third or fourth person I met here."
