[open] mama we all go to hell

Curufin is not at his best right now. Of course, he has not really been at his best since arriving here, in one way or another, but just the same. Since being driven back inside (as he thinks of it) by Caranthir, he's locked himself in his room and pretty much hasn't stopped pacing.

And it's not just restlessness and pent up energy, either; he ( Read more... )

Armand carefully counts the doors, then he stands quietly outside the one he's chosen for a long while. He has his knives, the ones made by Celebrimbor, and Jaenelle's ring. He is as prepared as it's possible to be in case this turns ugly. And inside the Mansion itself, he won't be at such a disadvantage running.

So he takes a deep breath and knocks firmly upon the door and waits for an answer. He knows darn well that if doesn't make peace with Curufin soon, he's going to end up dead.

Curufin looks up and stares at the door. Considers, for a few moments, going to open it. Concludes that it is either likely to be unproductive or not worth the effort, or probably both.

"Now is not the time," in his cool, level voice, pitched to carry through the solid door. "Nor do I think it will be in the near future. It would be wise for you to leave."

Armand calls back in Quenya, "It will never be the time, but I have a very strong reason to wish to persuade you not to want to kill me."

...oh. That.

He breathes out, a long time. Eventually, still not opening the door, he stands to resume pacing. "This may come as a surprise to you, but you are the least of my concerns right now." There is a tight note in his voice. "As such, I am disinterested in speaking to you, which would undoubtedly only be a pointless waste of time. Stay out of my sight, Edain, and do what you like. I could not care less."

Assuming this happens after Isolde's reunion with Tristan and -- er -- what transpared later on, she'll be an improved state of mind and thus inclined to go wander a bit within the Mansion's walls; albeit not too far and absolutely not in a reckless manner.

She'll go exploring, so--. Cautiously, yet curiously. She's not very keen on meeting new people, but she might as well. It's not too much she knows about what goes by at the Mansion; so she might accidentally lean against Curufin's door, perhaps scared by a sudden motion on the halfway.

If the door opens she'll try to catch herself, but probably tumble inside.

The door is locked, but he hears a thump against it and stalks over, jerks the door open, expecting to find Caranthir there. Again. What good he thinks he's doing lurking around the door escapes Curufin, but...

It is not his brother. It is a woman, human and vulnerable looking and now on his floor. She might notice that it is nearly stiflingly stuffy, though the rather thinned face looking down at her without expression doesn't seem to be troubled by the heat.

"What," he starts to ask, and then cuts it off. "Get out. Get out."

Not only that she's shocked by the sudden collision, now this unfamiliar -- well -- man is also yelling at her. Isolde finds it difficult to collect her forces so that she can scramble on her feet, and while she's at that she'll emply her most gentle tone in saying, "Pray, forgive me, Sir. There was... something on the way here, in the darkness. I'm but a woman - I got scared."

--she's in his room. Somehow, this invasion of privacy is worse than - what he expected. He's thrown off, surprised, and - "--woman or not, there is nothing to fear in this house." Only outside of it. "You are too easy to startle --and still in my room."

Despite being unwilling to leave his room, we're going to suppose that at one point or another, he'll need to go get something to eat.

When he does - if he does, he'll perhaps bump into a familiar face. Anita's just wandering around, probably on her way to visit someone - Locke, Cal, a friend or other.

Well, yes, though he puts it off as long as is humanly (elfishly?) possible. But he doesn't intend to self-destruct, and certainly not until he has something worked out. What, he's not sure, but nonetheless.

So on his way down to the kitchen, eyes half closed in that apparently lazy thinking mode that he's been in for the past week - since Ata told him he was wrong -

He's thinner than when she saw him last, and it is definitely thinner more than leaner; there's a slightly unhealthy look about his face, of exhaustion, perhaps.

He won't acknowledge her, of course. But he does glance sideways, note her presence, perhaps almost hesitate.

She's spotted him - and still hasn't bothered with reading the book (she leaves that to Henry, thank you very much).

All the same, she'll give him a glance, a smile, and a quiet - lazy - greeting. "Fancy meeting you here."

It's not unfriendly.

His eyebrows go up, expression somewhat...shifting into bored, after a moment of near dismay. "Not such an uncommon occurrence, is it? One does have to come here sooner or later."

Not unfriendly either, but he's not certain he really wants to talk to her either. Hence, keep moving on the getting of food.

Caranthir said he would be a shadow to his brother - and he's keeping his word. When there was no movement in or out of the room, he wandered over, pressed his forehead to Curufin's door.

And knocked, just to be sure he didn't fall on his sword, or something.

"Hey."

Here, have more silence. For a few moments. Curufin is sorely tempted to hold his peace and see what Caranthir will do. Probably break his door. He stands, sheathes the knife, and opens the door, just enough to see Caranthir's face. "I thought you weren't going to be lurking."

Cue his foot literally being stuck in the door."Ah, you're in one piece. Good thing, that. I was getting worried."

Oh, goddamn. "Take it out or I will break it," flatly. "Yes, I am. That shouldn't be surprising. And you still said you weren't going to be lurking, which, I might add, is precisely what you are doing. As you have allayed your suspicions that I intend some kind of-" sneer, "Self harm, I think you can find some other way to entertain yourself."

Feanor Does Not approve of this -- whatever it is. He's been looking for a son, not finding him, and generally hasn't felt very in tune with his boys.

And he's going looking for his favorite son - they need to have a talk of sorts, after all.

He knocks, tries the doorknob without waiting.

Typist willing, a father will poke his head in, then.

Curufin has been avoiding you (a first) on purpose (an even bigger first) so it is not surprising that you haven't seen him; after all, when Curufin puts his mind to something, and so on. However, he was almost certain that he locked that damned door, and from his position on the bed examining the knife his head snaps up, halfway to a snarl to leave, damn you, now, before he realizes that it's his father.

He clears his expression as well as he can and bows low, all respect. "--Ata."

"Curufinwe," Feanor replies, and there's a touch of worry in his tone. "I was looking for you."

More worriers. And this time it's his father, and he really can't chase his father away. He stays standing, though, keeping his expression solidly neutral, as he is - fairly well practiced at doing. "For what reason, Ata?"

Pretending you aren't aware of the worry doesn't count as evasion, or lying, does it?
