[open] mama we all go to hell

Curufin is not at his best right now. Of course, he has not really been at his best since arriving here, in one way or another, but just the same. Since being driven back inside (as he thinks of it) by Caranthir, he's locked himself in his room and pretty much hasn't stopped pacing.

And it's not just restlessness and pent up energy, either; he ( Read more... )

Feanor Does Not approve of this -- whatever it is. He's been looking for a son, not finding him, and generally hasn't felt very in tune with his boys.

And he's going looking for his favorite son - they need to have a talk of sorts, after all.

He knocks, tries the doorknob without waiting.

Typist willing, a father will poke his head in, then.

Curufin has been avoiding you (a first) on purpose (an even bigger first) so it is not surprising that you haven't seen him; after all, when Curufin puts his mind to something, and so on. However, he was almost certain that he locked that damned door, and from his position on the bed examining the knife his head snaps up, halfway to a snarl to leave, damn you, now, before he realizes that it's his father.

He clears his expression as well as he can and bows low, all respect. "--Ata."

"Curufinwe," Feanor replies, and there's a touch of worry in his tone. "I was looking for you."

More worriers. And this time it's his father, and he really can't chase his father away. He stays standing, though, keeping his expression solidly neutral, as he is - fairly well practiced at doing. "For what reason, Ata?"

Pretending you aren't aware of the worry doesn't count as evasion, or lying, does it?

"Do I need a reason to seek out my closest apprentice? Come now - walk with me."

If there is one thing Curufin does not do, it is public emoting. So he inclines his head, still every inch collected, dutiful, and above all his usual self. Because fathers get no complaints or unhappiness from him. That would be weakness. "Of course not. I only wondered if there was aught in particular you desired of me. But I would - like to walk with you."

Feanor opens the door, then, and pulls a son with him. "Come then - there is much we must discuss, and I have wanted your ear."

Curufin is pulled, though still reluctant, and follows a little sluggishly. "--of course. You know it is always yours when you need it." Examining him carefully, a little, sideways, perhaps trying to gauge his temper or displeasure or something. Though outwardly he's making a good show of confidence as usual.

Feanor notes it, but doesn't ask for now. "You've been scarce, son. What news?"

"Little enough," a little cautiously, is this daddy trying to find out if he's obeyed what he asked? "I've been scarce. Reading, some. Thinking on - what you said. Simply taking some time to be by myself."

Feanor nods. "I understand that," he says after a moment. "I have done the same before."

"I had - much to think about." He relaxes slightly, though, soothed about that one aspect. Sort of. "This place has few areas that are truly...quiet." A pause, time to move the conversation forward. "And you, Ata? How have you been faring?"

"I have been -- occupied," he says slowly. "Maitimo has come."

And that really threw Daddy for a loop.

"...yes. We - spoke." Somewhat awkwardly, because was that good for you? And he expects not.

It... was. In a very strange, awkward way, good for Feanor, in fact. But it was also very ouch-inducing.

"-- how did your encounter go?"

This is his noncommittal invincible feelingless son shrug. "Well enough. We've never been extremely close. It hasn't been so long for me as it has for him." I still don't get him at all.
