[open] mama we all go to hell

Curufin is not at his best right now. Of course, he has not really been at his best since arriving here, in one way or another, but just the same. Since being driven back inside (as he thinks of it) by Caranthir, he's locked himself in his room and pretty much hasn't stopped pacing.

And it's not just restlessness and pent up energy, either; he ( Read more... )

Despite being unwilling to leave his room, we're going to suppose that at one point or another, he'll need to go get something to eat.

When he does - if he does, he'll perhaps bump into a familiar face. Anita's just wandering around, probably on her way to visit someone - Locke, Cal, a friend or other.

Well, yes, though he puts it off as long as is humanly (elfishly?) possible. But he doesn't intend to self-destruct, and certainly not until he has something worked out. What, he's not sure, but nonetheless.

So on his way down to the kitchen, eyes half closed in that apparently lazy thinking mode that he's been in for the past week - since Ata told him he was wrong -

He's thinner than when she saw him last, and it is definitely thinner more than leaner; there's a slightly unhealthy look about his face, of exhaustion, perhaps.

He won't acknowledge her, of course. But he does glance sideways, note her presence, perhaps almost hesitate.

She's spotted him - and still hasn't bothered with reading the book (she leaves that to Henry, thank you very much).

All the same, she'll give him a glance, a smile, and a quiet - lazy - greeting. "Fancy meeting you here."

It's not unfriendly.

His eyebrows go up, expression somewhat...shifting into bored, after a moment of near dismay. "Not such an uncommon occurrence, is it? One does have to come here sooner or later."

Not unfriendly either, but he's not certain he really wants to talk to her either. Hence, keep moving on the getting of food.

"Well yes. Just pointing out it's been a while." And you look like hell froze over and rode over you with a fourteen-wheeler, she wants to say. "How've you been?"

"So it has." Slight inclination of his head, acknowledging that, or perhaps directing his eyes downward to think about how to say things. "I have no complaints," he says, after a moments consideration. "Or rather, less than I could have, and I would not make them. At least it seems ...peaceful enough here."

No sign of Morgoth yeeet?

"You think?" She leans against the counter, looks at him. "There's been that very strange blood moon," she says slowly. "Don't think it's your big bad - I'd know if it were - but there's been blood magic going on here."

She wants to sit him down and make him eat lots of food. We're not sure why.

"--blood moon?" He recovers his surprise quickly. "--ah. I don't know anything about it - but no, that wouldn't be the Enemy's style. At least, perhaps I mean, he hasn't shown himself or his monsters." One eyebrow raise. "I suppose I shouldn't ask how you know?"

Though his shoulders tense a little at the thought of any magic, let alone blood magic, let alone the Enemy being involved.

She shrugs. "It's my job to know - that's the simplest way I can put it."

"Then maybe you shouldn't put it the simplest way, as that raises far more questions than it answers." Still evenly, though his gaze is a little warier. He's not sure what's strange about her, but there's something-

Hm. At any rate, not something he can fix at the moment. However, to keep in mind, yes.

"I'm sure it does," she replies, calmly. "I suppose I could also tell you that it's because I'm a bit like Gandalf."

She's more familiar with the Lord of the Rings mythos than with the Silmarillion, so that... is what she can think to explain.

..."A bit like who?" This is good, though, she's at least distracting him some? Although he might lose interest if it doesn't seem important. "I'm afraid I am unfamiliar with that name."

"Oh. Sorry. Hm. Well, let me think - if I tell you I'm a little bit magic, will that make sense to you?"

A lot magic - but she doesn't want to.. make it sound strange, or something.

"...sense enough. I see." He remembers, belatedly, that he kind of knew that. Or at least guessed it. Well, confirmation can't hurt. But yeah, there goes the interest, and he looks back toward making a sandwich.

"Yeah," she says, after a moment. And indicating the sandwich... "-- you sure you don't want something a little more homey?"

--"A little more homey." He sounds almost amused. "How do you mean? Are you the - ah, expert in homey cuisine?"
