Survival instincts - an update

I'm incredibly disappointed in my autonomous nervous system right now
Little Bridgey is away in the old country for the rest of the week, leaving me to fend for myself. So far my survival instincts have kept me alive so far. I've remembered to eat most days, and hopefully the cuts I've gotten from amateur fieldwork in a bramble patch will have healed by then (I set up a carrion trap to catch flesh flies :D). Explosions!
Our cider production is all finished now. But... there were some unfortunate incidents. The bottles were sitting in the cupboard, snuggly in a cardboard box. Returning from our happy trip to Nottingham, we found one of the bottles had broken. Strangely the whole top of the glass bottle was some distance away from the rest of it. Brew-ha-ha
I finally got around to starting on my cider kit that I bought weeks ago. The never-ending Winter just dragged me down so much that nothing really got done. But the new batch is now on the brew! I've made up the recipe to the stronger variant. I also took some pictures to document the process.

The Winter of discontent seems to finally be over, so Spring cleaning is set to begin tomorrow. The both of us have been feeling a bit crap lately, so household cleaning has gone to pot (and a crappy flat only leads to more crappyness). From the galls
Since Winter-time was a bit dead entomologically, I busied myself collecting galls from oak trees in the region. One of the first that I found were the oak apples.

Galling
We had a nice stroll in Wivenhoe woods yesterday, where I was lucky enough to find a still developing marble gall on a young oak tree. Since I'm lucky enough to have access to a dissecting microscope at work, I spent some of my lunch opening it up.
