Logan Likes Mary Anne! Part The End!

Mar 30, 2017 13:59

Greetings, my dears! So, I should have had this snark up last night but it got too facking hot and I fell asleep in the middle of it. But today I got up bright and early and after Animal Crossing, I finished it up. I think this is my favorite book I've done so far. Not only is the plot not total ass but the BSC acts like normal human beings ( Read more... )

Oh, because when Karen's scaring them they're too frightened to fight.--Excuse me? Wow, what a wonderful reason to let the bad behavior continue instead of telling her to knock it off and everybody finding something else to do. And Karen's the brat of the younger siblings imo. I really have a hard time picturing Andrew, David Michael or Emily starting shit up. It's all on her ( ... )

The fact that the BSC just lets Karen terroize her siblings because it's better than them fighting is ridiculous. This is probably scarring poor Andrew. And how much harder would it be to break up a fight and get the kids occupied in something else verses having to comfort a kid's night terrors? It drives me crazy what Karen is allowed to get away with because she's Ann's pet. I can see not wanting to hamper your kid's creativity but if it's actively harming your other kids, you're raising a spoiled brat and creating resentment in your other kids.

I've had the idea of writing self-insert BSC fanfiction on the back burner for ages. I'm just so rusty at writing fiction. But then I think if it's not great, I can say it's based off Ann's writing style which isn't exactly Newbery winning. And the fact that it'd be parody cuts me some slack too. Someday I'll get around to it ( ... )

“Good God, cat, you wouldn't believe the bullshit my family pulled today! First the triplets chipped one of my permanent teeth, then Margo walked too fast and puked in my rain boots, and then my mom made me re-shingle the roof!'

I lol'd.

She complained non-stop but
no one was forcing her to eat the cake in the first place!

Right?! Dawn acts like they were saying 'Oh, Dawn! Have some cake! We know you don't like it bu we don't care! We'll be mad at you if you don't!' Like I said, if she was an individual she'd turn it down because it's not what she likes. But noooooo! She has to make sure everyone thinks about how special she is for not liking cake. Because every moment of her life must be spent being reminding everybody she's a precious snowflake.

Mary Anne wonders if she's in love and no.

When I was in sixth grade, at a PRIVATE CHRISTIAN school, we learned about birth control as well as the difference between love and infatuation. At this point, MA doesn't know him well enough for it to be love.

I don't blame her any.

At this point in the series, the girls are normal enough that it's easy to chalk this up to good intentions that weren't thought through. Later on, it would be them not caring as long as they had fun. Too bad we didn't get to keep the earlier series girls.

We should play 'Marry, fuck, kill' with the 'brook dads. I'll go first-Marry-Richard, Kill-Patrick, Fuck...

I second this! Also, that's not you being ace. Um...is there a single fuck-worthy man in this series? Without having to pretend we're 13 again? I'm a non-ace, and there's still no one I'd fuck without having to revert back a couple decades.

Mary Anne says she'd like the grey tabby and Logan asks her if she doesn't want to play with them a bit first. She says no, she always wanted a grey ( ... )

Yeah, the earlier books are definitely better at writing the characters to be believable and not overtly terrible. It's like when you read the comics and see that, yeah, this are people I want to read more about. I really like the comics for this. They remind me on why I got hooked on the series in the first place.

I remember reading this as a kid and not understanding MA's being so upset at a party, like "Your friends all threw you a party because they like you so much, why are you complaining?!" (and I was a shy kid who identified with MA), but I understand it a lot better now. Like having friends who like you is good, but having friends who *know* you is better, know what you would and wouldn't like. I don't really like surprises, nor the feeling of people planning things behind my back (even if it's good things for me). That reminds me that someone had a surprise party for me in the fall, and I did find it slightly uncomfortable (although it wasn't a total surprise because I accidentally saw an email to my husband about it, but I pretended). Fortunately I'm not as shy/full of social anxiety as I was as a kid, so I did manage to enjoy it ( ... )
