So! belmanoir and zabira and Z's awesome friend jillbertini and I went to see some of those American Idol people the other night! I liked them okay!

( In which the crowd is surprisingly well-behaved, I fall even more in love with Allison and also her band, it's Adam's world and we're all just living in it, the glitterpeen is imperiled, and the Adam/Tommy kind of writes itself )

Sadly, Portland got no Tommy. It was tragic, as I am still iffy on the whole Adam thing, and am sort of "meh" about any show this perfectly timed and polished and scripted, but am completely, 110% on the "Tommy ratliff was created in a lab to drive me to distraction" bandwagon. (tiny and pliant and kittenish, and DEPECHE MODE ROSE TATTOOS, I can't even...*guh*)

We were up on the balcony, so I'll have pics if I ever get home/ remember I have an lj.

What happened to Tommy? I saw on Twitter that people were sending him good wishes and stuff, but I didn't know why!

The perfectly-timed-and-polished part was a bit strange for me, too--that is totally not the kind of show I typically go see, and it was definitely a different experience than I'm used to. But pictures! That is exciting!

I'm not 100% sure what exactly it is with Tommy - Adam said something about a family emergency and twitter was talking about his father being in the hospital back in LA? Which might have been what held up the Seattle encore, if that's when he found out, and went and worked out details and changed in order to catch the first flight back home ( ... )

Aww, now I feel all guilty for thinking inappropriate thoughts about Adam and Tommy while Tommy was all in distress! I kind of doubt that he found out right then, though--the mood seemed fairly jovial onstage, and Adam slapped Tommy on the ass as they were leaving, which seems not-quite-appropriate for sad news. Unless that's how Adam expresses sympathy, which I suppose is possible. Hee. Anyway, hopefully everything went okay with Tommy's dad?

It was additionally odd that they just performed the entire set without a bass player? There's no tech to borrow?

Wow, that does seem odd.

I was hoping that the live show would grunge up that polished album sound just a little?*nodnodnod* I know what you mean. (Also, man, you should try to get out to see Cook and the guys the next time they're in your vicinity--that's exactly the effect of their show, to me anyway, ( ... )

Seattle IIHY is beyond awesome! :D :D :D

He commanded us to do body rolls during IIHY. And sing at the same time! I failed. But I jumped my damnedest and my arms were ready to fall off (thank you, anonymous guy behind me, for being so very tolerant of my flailing.)

Especially when the man himself is clearly SO THRILLED to be there.

This is one of the things that slays me about Adam. The JOY and delight, the getting off on it, the delightful sharing of his joy. Plus he's such a glittery hippie about it all.

I couldn't observe Allison very much because the crowd got really tight at that point. (btw, for some magical reason my spot acquired a tiny bit more breathing room during Adam's set. I think the line jumper got pushed out, gently, but firmly.) What I did see of Allison blew me away, although she did seem a bit tired. And the sound mix wasn't right for her, I think. Dave/Allison is so adorable and FUN, it kills me. I still wonder if she's not a figment of our imagination.

I was also very disappointed Orianthi got more response than Allison. WTF!!!!!!!
Maybe people's collective brains were fried from tension and lack of a/c.

Eeep, I'm sorry I invaded YOUR post with rambly thoughts about my concert.

Our crowd was also high energy, lots of love and rocking out.

Awww, YAY. And yeah, our crowd was pretty tolerant of the rude people, too, but fortunately the rude people were few and far between, so it worked out okay--I was fearing a much less pleasant ratio.
