Well, updates, updates...

I realise I haven't been blogging much about this flyover to Istanbul, or what'll happen when it's over, so I'd better get some updates in.

OK, it hasn't been thaaaaat bad. I've already seen everyone I want to see at least once, and had some nice pokes round bits of the city I've wanted to see. I don't have enough money. The only thing I can, in financial independence, do, is return to Istanbul and to my job at Fatih University. Or else -- more of a risk -- jetset to London immediately, take a flat, and pray for a job to come quickly. With what I have I could probably survive a month there. Phew! I just had the most thorough hamam-scrubbing I think I've ever experienced. My skin truly does feel baby-soft. Plus I feel like a wet noodle.

I've had the loveliest day so far today. Met Alex at the Galata Bridge and we had lunch at one of the restaurants underneath, then went to another place -- a coffee shop -- and lolled on bean bags playing tavla (backgammon).
