It’s been a rough week for 69 year old British celebrities with cancer. I woke up Monday morning to find out that we’d lost David Bowie, and woke up Thursday morning to the news that Alan Rickman had decided to join him for a drink in Heaven. Well bugger all. I LOVE Lord Peter! The books, that is, not much of a fan of the movies they made. Some of the books are tough sledding, but others, I just fly through. I try to re-read " Murder Must Advertise" at least once a year, and " Gaudy Night" and "Busman's Honeymoon" as well. Have you read the novels that Jill Paton Walsh wrote? As far as I know, there have only been two of them: "A Presumption of Death." and "Thrones, Dominations. Not as tightly plotted as the originals, but entertaining none the less.

I've been reading Lord Peter since I think high school? I think Five Red Herrings was my first? I can't remember how I found him, but I'm sure someone suggested him to me because I was reading Agatha Christie. He's one of my favorites. I woke up this morning and remembered that I'd recently bought some of the videos on sale at Barnes and Nobles. I don't recall ever seeing any of them, so I'll probably watch them sometime soon.

I had bought Thrones, Dominations a while back, started it, and put it down without finishing it. Then, the last time I did a complete re-read of Lord Wimsey I finally managed to struggle through it. Paton Walsh is NO Sayers, even with Sayers having written a chunk of the book, I found that I just really didn't enjoy it nearly as much. I don't think I'll be buying any more of her Wimsey books.
