Water Heater noises

Even though I called it in on Monday (and made sure I took the cell phone out in the hallway so they could hear for themselves!) the water heater is still making loud noises.

I guess I'm just going to have to keep listening to the damned thing until it explodes or something. *sighs*

Is it making noise all the time? Or does it seem to be the time people are allying for shower water? I would be more worried if it was gas than electric. Electric can start a fire..the gas can go boom.

It's gas, and I haven't been able to figure out yet what exactly makes it thump.
