So this morning I stumbled across the campaign to #BanBossy thanks to a link on the Google home page.

I love the video. But I’m not quite sure what to make of this article. Here we are talking about breaking gender stereotypes, and the final sentence of the article is But possibly the strongest Girl Power message of all comes from Beyoncé. The ( Read more... )

This is Alena.
I had a horrible moment a few weekends back upon walking in to a conference for First-Person Interpreters. We walked into the auditorium and the event organizer, who is on my Facebook, shouts out to the entire auditorium, "There is the mom-to-be!" To which I responded, "Actually I'm here as an Interpreter, my personal life is not relevant." Then I was told (by someone else) I was being rude.

I could have used a nicer tone of voice but I stand by my response, the status of my uterus is no way to be introduced to a group of professional colleagues I may never have met before.

OMG, that is horrifying! I would have probably been rude to them too. Because yeah, they would never have blurted out, "There's the father-to-be!" to a dude.
