That quote had me grinning ear to ear. That sums things up nicely. The best part about being a nerd is flailing with other fans.
As much as I LOVE Tamora Pierce and her writing - I'm with you on being disappointed with The Will of the Empress I actually didn't finish it when I read it. None of the characters felt right. I'm not sure if it was just that book either, because I didn't care for the first Beka Cooper book when that was released. But if the second book is Tris focused then I might have to check it out. Triss is amazing, and easily my favorite character in the series, for pretty much the same reasons that you described. I RELATE. I was ecstatic when I found an autographed copy of Tris's Book at a thrift shop. xD
EDIT:
As for videos . . . I've just been using links. D: So I have no idea how to help you with the embedding issues, sorry. But the link you embedded seems to be working OK on my end.
Yes, how awesome is it? I love that! It's so true, when people call you a nerd, it's like a criticism of how passionate you are about what you're interested in, which is so lame of them. *sniffs* (you'll note sports fans don't get called derogatory names for being so into their area of interest
( ... )
It's so ridiculous. I always grin when people call me a nerd. To me, it's a huge compliment. xDDD Being passionate should never be a bad thing.
And ugh- I know what you mean, Daja grated on my nerves especially with regards to how she treated the others. I LIKE these characters, but Tamora clearly did SOMETHING wrong if she made them that irritating. D': Characters should MATURE as the go along, not turn into the whiny brats that they never were.
I guess I'm not going to be picking WotE again then.
They didn't know what they were letting walk out the door, lol. It was all I could do to keep from dancing around with a smile on my face. xD
I hope they fix the problem too then! D': That really sucks that there doesn't seem to be a fix. I'll keep an eye out for any fixes though.
The thing is, I don't find the term 'nerd' to be an insult, but that's how people use it at times, which is why I get irritated, if that makes sense? Like, I don't mind wearing glasses, in fact, I like my glasses and I think they suit my features and I look better with them, lol, but when people pay me out over them, it annoys me because of the intention behind their words, rather than the thing they're talking about in and of itself.
Characters should MATURE as the go along, not turn into the whiny brats that they never wereExactly, even when they didn't know each other and all had their own damage and insecurity, they never treated each other as poorly as in this book. I mean, how is it that AFTER they've achieved such successes and made names for themselves and got great careers and mentors and everything, that they're actually more vile to each other than before, when they were mistreated and treated like dirt and had nothing
( ... )
I have a toothy grin reading that quote as well and that's saying something since I have stitches in my mouth from this week's dental adventures. And I would also love to have some of the characters I fangirl have some 'judging you' icons. What's SYTC-whatever.....yes, I've forgotten the acronym and I'm so sorry. I hardly watch TV shows, though I do watch a lot of TV.
I was actually looking for something to distract me this weekend from intense mouth pain and I'm coming up empty. I thought of watching Dead Like Me, I have the entire series on DVD but I'm just not in the mood right now. I need something though. Maybe I'll go back and watch Season 1 of the Boondocks....that's always good. I'm rambling now.
Oh, and BTW, I never got your Christmas card/gift, or at least three more I know were coming from Europe and Australia. It was quite upsetting, as I was all stoked to watch Human Target, Hmm, maybe I'll buy it off iTunes and watch that all weekend. Though your free version was so much more enticing.
Hee! I'm happy it could bring some amusement to your life- although I hope not too much, I wouldn't want your stitches being torn or anything! :O
And yes, I can't believe I've gone this long without having' judging you' icons. Fail, self!
Lol, I forgot I'd written SYTYCD, it just rolled off my fingertips- which is odd, since in my tags, I have written out the whole bloody title. Maybe I'll edit that at some stage... (I keep saying I'll tidy up my tags and it NEVER HAPPENS)
Aww, I'm sorry you're in pain, darling, that's awful. Yes, tv's just the thing to take the edge off, methinks. I actually have/had? Dead Like Me. I really liked the first season, or the first half or so, but then I got tired of it. Daisy was annoying me. But George and Mandy Patinkin's character were so cool!
Okay, I'm officially freaking out. Damn post office! After the insane amount they charged for postage, they BETTER get my package to you. >_< I'm gonna see if I can find my receipt- I think I know where I put it *crosses fingers*- and storm over and demand
( ... )
Yeah, if the show was just George and Rube, and maybe Roxy I probably would've loved it a lot more. Love Laura Harris, didnt like Daisy and didnt like Mason either. Oh well, I'm sure I'll find something else.
Heads should roll because I've got nothing here and its kinda disappointing because I know three or four people who told me they sent stuff and I just didnt get it. You got mine, right? Hell, I sent a package to Portugal just 10 days before Christmas and it actually got there Christmas Eve....its almost February now : (
