YOU SAW THOR. =D *has been wanting to squee about it with someone*

I didn't realize they were one and the same. To be fair, I haven't watched Kyle XY in at least three years. My brother had to point it out to me. (He watched the whole series again last month) I actually thought she WAS the girl who played Xena. Then I realized that show came out in the 90s and people age. *facepalm*

One of the things I love about this movie is how well Thor himself develops from the start of the film, until it's conclusion. My main problem with a lot of superhero movies is that there isn't much development that way. As much as I love Iron Man, it has this problem A LOT. It makes him such an engaging character, and really is part of what makes the film so fun to watch.

That cap with Sif and the Warriors Three when they find Thor? I lol'd. HARD. Such a hysterical scene.

But I'm with you, Darcy was awesome. *nods* The tasers were a part of it. And I want Leverage crossover fic with her Parker being quirky and bonding over their shared love of ( ... )

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you. >_<

That's okay then! I only watched it years ago, too, so...even though she looks the same, it doesn't mean we should've recognized her, 'coz she's from an old show. Pfft. :P

I actually thought she WAS the girl who played Xena.

LOL. Okay, that is so silly! *squishes you* Xena was much older! :P

Yes, this, exactly! I thought that was really well-done; we go from the adrenaline junkie goofing off (well, he thought it was for the good of Asgard or whatever, but it was a damn irresponsible thing to do) to someone who makes a weighty decision and sacrifice in order to do the right thing. That was- wow. *hugs him*

That cap with Sif and the Warriors Three when they find Thor? I lol'd. HARD.SO ADORABLE. ( ... )

He thinks THIS is how he's going to get the recognition he craves, and finding out about his heritage only makes matters worse. D: And this was what made Loki such a good, sympathetic villain.

IKR? Fantastic characterization, I love subtlety and nuance and believable motivations. I thought they were going to make him flat-out villainous by inviting the enemy to destroy his former home 'coz he was blinded by his emotions, but it's actually quite understandable that he used that as a trap and was trying to destroy the enemy to solidify his position as son and royalty and deserving of being there.

I feel so bad for him that it backfired, but...what did he expect? Thor got his ass handed to him when he tried a similar thing! (of course, his way would never have worked and just gotten them all killed *eyeroll*)

And it takes a LOT to make me sympathize with the bad guy.

*shifty eyes* My default is pretty much to root for the bad guy... :P

I loved though, how at the end, she was actively searching for a way to create a wormhole ( ... )

xD I've always grown up with superhero cartoons - an a super strong sense of justice. Ergo, I automatically frown-faced at the "bad guys" and pretty much root for the heroes. For a while as a kid, I didn't even like Batman because he was too "grumpy".

Yeah, see, that was good! Astrophysicist using her brains, working toward finding a solution, that was what I wanted to see and yet most of the movie, she was solely the love interest. So while I like that at the end, she got to be independent and all, it was disappointing and too little, too late for me.
Hopefully in the second movie, we'll get more of this. I know this film is setting up for the plot that's been building up since "Iron Man" with the Avengers film due out next summer. So they were kind of rushed setting up the characters (especially the more minor characters, I'd hae liked to see more of Sif and the Warriors Three) Loki is (supposedly) set to be the main conflict in the film. Though IDEK how it's ( ... )

I just might have to go see Thor now, lol, I always enjoy your fandom posts and caps and pics. And damn if I'm going to go have to go re-read the parts in DH about Harry and his suicide march. You've got me thinking now. Why did he go, during the middle of the battle, and watch Snape's memories. He always hated him so why do that then? Of course I'm glad he does because then Snape is vindicated but I have to re-read that again.

and when did you change the first little animation of Emma? It used to be a thumbs up right?

You should! It's a lot of fun! I always say, give me a movie like this over the ones that win Oscars and make you want to rip your heart out to stop the hurting.

I always enjoy your fandom posts and caps and pics

:D Thank you, that's so sweet!

Haha, I'm glad someone found my HP tangent interesting! I have this condition where I can't discuss something without relating it to HP in some way. *eyeroll*

Look, as much as I love the world and its characters and all the possibilities, a lot of the plotting is just...that bit in particular? it's really quite a clumsy way of moving people around to get the end result and symptomatic of her tendency to sacrifice character for the sake of plot.

I mean, look at that whole scene- JKR wanted Voldy to kill Snape so he felt he was the Master of the Elder Wand, right? So why would he use Nagini? Even if a snake couldn't be the Master, why mess around with magical laws like that? He has no problem using AKs on other people, and he's all 'Snape, it's such a pity, you're a loyal servant', blah blah ( ... )

I think I read in a fic about the reason Voldy used nagini was because it was a horcrux it was still him killing snape but I never really thought about it that if he used AK then he wold have died instantly and could not have given harry the memories.

The ins and outs of DH, at least the second part after the big camping trip, are so complex sometimes!

That would be so funny to think of Snape giving Harry memories of Snape being mean instead of helpful memories, lol, the final fu from snape to harry ;)

That's right about the gun/hands - you have an icon with her doing the thumbs up then I think?

borg_princess June 27 2011, 03:26:36 UTC
Yeah, but...oh, right, I forgot he didn't know Harry was a horcrux as well. I get so used to knowing stuff I forget characters don't know it as well. That's an interesting theory, but again, it just seems so convoluted- he wants optimal performance from the Elder Wand, which is attained through being the Master, which means killing this dude. Why get another creature to kill him, even if it's on a technicality that means you're still PROBABLY gonna be the Master, when you can AK him yourself?

That would be so funny to think of Snape giving Harry memories of Snape being mean instead of helpful memories, lol, the final fu from snape to harry ;)

This, exactly! It makes me giggle, tbh. I wish someone would do a crack!vid like that after DH II is released! :D

you have an icon with her doing the thumbs up then I think?

Indeed I do! I love how you notice these things! <3

I had no knowledge of the mythology...except I recall some people complaining 'coz Sif apparently has blonde hair? (or maybe that's in the comics...) WHAT A THING TO CRITICIZE. Jaimie did an excellent job!

I'll have to look up the Norse legends, I'd be interested to learn more about Sif, actually.

What, he gets a Hammer and extra gizmos? :O Dude knows how to accessorize! Maybe it'll come up in a future movie? ^_~

I...didn't see Clint! Which is odd, 'coz there's a few Darcy/Clint fics out there and I'm like, I don't remember this guy? I did back-and-forth on scenes a lot, 'coz I couldn't watch it straight, I had to keep rewatching certain scenes, so I might've accidentally skipped past him. O.o When did he show up?

Is it daytime where you are? I should really figure out timezones, it might've been too early for people. But yeah, just thought I'd check!

I would rec it very much. :D Well, I mean, with the understanding that it's a superhero movie, with all that entails...but gosh, hunky hero, amazing anti-hero, a lot of cool side-characters... Yep, worth getting around to when you can!

I think I'm definitely going to go see it either this weekend or next week. I need a good movie to watch to help unwind from school and it just sounds really cool. :D

Screw you, LJ! *shakes fist* It keeps giving me error pages when I post a comment. >:[ I'm trying to catch up with all my comments and it won't bloody let me comment!

Anyway. Hope you enjoy the movie and it helps you unwind! I think it's the best state to watch it in!

And I'd def go for that over, say, Green Lantern. I'mma still check it out, but the reviews make it sound atrocious.

I haven't seen Thor yet, but Jessi is in Nurse Jackie. idk, she had the worst acting in Kyle XY lol. So did Kyle actually XD

borg_princess June 25 2011, 12:58:50 UTC
Whoa, you watched Kyle XY! I only know one other person, so this is crazy!

Gah. I didn't think her acting was that bad, tbh- we were supposed to hate Jessi, right? No? Oh, well.

Kyle was adorable, whatever. :P I wanted to squish him, he was all innocent and cute. But terrible, terrible relationship decisions- the whole thing with Jessi, ugh. >:[

I have not seen Nurse Jackie. I just googled and found the character Jaimie plays is described as 'wild and immature.' *eyeroll* Figures.

I think we were, idk she was really annoying and it was like there should be a rule for only one monotone actor per show lol. She's not bad on Nurse Jackie actually, she wasn't there much though. It was Jackie who was really annoying lol.

At first I thought Kyle's acting was because Kyle was learning everything like it was new, but then I saw him on something else and he talking the same exact way. I was like er....I guess that wasn't just learned to speak acting?

The montone thing really annoyed me, like, argh, Jessi, learn to inflect more.

Haha, staying away from Nurse Jackie for sure!

At first I thought Kyle's acting was because Kyle was learning everything like it was new

But- but- that's why I liked Matt Dallas (?) because I thought he was very convincing as the dude who was newly exposed to human society and was just learning how to communicate and like, his speech patterns were unusual and really fit that character. And...you're saying that's just the actor? O.o

I'm torn between wanting to laugh and wanting to facepalm. I guess- good for him on landing that role, 'coz it made the most of his natural abilities, lol!
