I'm actually quite able to function without magic, too, as magic isn't supposed to be used in front of non-mages. Really, the only advantage it gives me in daily life here is to look my actual age.

There are some apartments near the river that used to be inhabited. I'd say they've been fixed up fairly well. You might want to give those a try? There was one that I know for a fact had been merged with the apartment next to it, to accommodate more people...

The same goes for magic in front of Muggles-... that is, humans of non-magical origin. But since most wizards and witches grew up in magical communities, I had the advantage in being raised by Muggles.
