I went to watch sumo again today with Wenjin-- not the real 15-day tournament, but a day-long tournament-style event sponsored by Fuji TV. Tournament-style means I got to watch Hakuho in 4 matches in one sitting, which would never happen otherwise, so it was a pretty unique thing ( Read more... )

I took Friday off to spend my weekend in Tottori. Getting off that bus at 6:20am in front of Lawson in the rain before the sun had even risen was exhilarating -- I felt home.Two years of a place is a long time. The weekend in Disneyland-- 夢の国はとにかく混んでた。So much waiting, so much Japan... I ate a lot more that day than I have in recent memory, and talked a lot a lot with Tsegi and Jihyun. One of my English students is in a band, and he had a special concert for me and another of my friends who is leaving. It was really sweet of him! Another of my students (who is equally sweet) came, too, and it was a nice reminder that I have some ties that will remain here even after I leave.
