Mine Are Busy Days

So I've officially moved (the new address will appear in a few minutes in a flocked post, and my phone number's the same), badger5 and I have Internet access, and I have a job. Again, in yay-I-can-buy-food-and-pay-rent capslock: I HAVE A JOB. My interview for the reference position went very well and ended with "Well, you're hired," which is how I want ( Read more... )

They come and make sure your Internet works? Man, Charter lets you know something will happen someday, maybe you get something in the mail to plug in to your wall (we bought our own modem, having heard horror stories), and if you're lucky when you plug it in it works. I'm sure I wouldn't want the CDs, either, nor would I want someone to take care of the computer setup (any decent modem should resolve any connectivity issues these days). But I must admit, that's damn nice of them. Points for trying ( ... )

Well, they charged $20 for running a cable from the jack to the modem, so in this case I would have preferred just getting something in the mail. The modem is working, though, and the installation guy made an effort to situate the cable so that it wouldn't interfere with the opening of the door, so they do get some points. Also, the guy I talked to on the phone when I first called about getting the service was really nice and helpful.

I think you should start sending rambling, incoherent postcards to the higher-ups at Charter until they get sick enough of you to start providing better service. Be sure to give them your detailed thoughts on flossing.

Yay for job getting!!! I am so excited for you! I heard you helped John with his thesis formatting. You can probably guilt him into buying you the good beer that is great lakes brewing company.

I am excited, too! Maybe by Monday I will have stopped taking a different route home from the library every time I leave the place. I have no trouble getting there now, but whenever I exit, the sidewalks shift. TRUE STORY.

Mmm, good beer. John told me that my ability to make MS Word my bitch will make me popular with the students this fall. Maybe I can demand beer from the desperate undergrads.

I hope that holding information hostage in exchange for alcohol doesn't violate my new professional code of conduct.
